Is the sunroof option like a unicorn?

We're there any standard cabs with a sunroof?

 

My 99 has a powered sunroof . Been trying to find out if it was a dealer option back than

 

Sweet, my taco is a unicorn?!? Have the OEM moonroof, 4x4, trd rear locker, trd blower. Didn't know the moonroof is the rareness factor.

 

Any chance you have the sunroof cover too? I got lucky and found one on CL years ago.

 

Yep it came with it.

 

My 01 xtra cab came with manual moon roof but no shade. That shade would definitely help on those hot summer days.

 

I see some oem interior panels with a cut out for a sunroof. Must've been super rare to be sold with a moon roof.

 

I have the moon roof. I love it
When on the trail I take it out completely and set it in the back seat.
I dont have the shade for it thou
I will make one, one of these days

 

Finally fixing the rust around the sunroof. Easier than I thought, but not that easy.

I have a power sunroof on a 2003 Tacoma Dual Cab. It was installed by a dealer when brand new in San Diego. I guess they did this mod to a bunch of their inventory during that time.

 

From reading this post, I've realized that I might have more of a "unicorn" than most. 1998 tacoma 4wd standard cab short bed with a "pop-top" as some people refer to them. I've been looking for replacement seals cuz it leaks sometimes when I go thru the carwash. I've been looking for new seals bcuz of this. Anyone else have this problem?

I ordered my 2002 4x limited and still have the brochure listing models/options ( see bottom line) and it only lists 4X2 Xtracab, 4X2 S Runner, 4X4 Xtracab, and 4X4 Double Cab as models available with option “SR” tilt-up moonroof w/sunshade. Did other configurations get assembled? Those would be the unicorns. Other years might have had different model/option combinations available.

 

Just picked up this gem clean title 1996 SR5 4X4 in Imperial Jade Mica with a sunroof!

These trucks didnt survive in the east coast as a majority were bought back and crushed per the recalls. Finding one thats not in a junkyard rotted out is like finding a needle in the haystack. Also the SR5 trimmed 95-00s in general seem to be a rare find these days.
