It's the TRUE everyman's truck. It fits all ages but because of its price and what it can do, younger folk (like myself) tend to be magnetized to it.

Whoaaaa there cowboys and cowgirls...I'm 57 and I'm magnetized to the TACO's as well. One of the primary reasons guys my age and older are drawn to the U.S. Product is price. They see little truck $30K...they look at big truck that is twice the size $23k the older folks think...I get twice the truck for a third less. Besides why would they care about the quality...they sell their American loser trucks just as they are going out of warranty. This way they stay in Warranty for years by trading or selling their used trucks. My 84 year old father thinks I'm nuts for keeping my 95 with 155K on it and fixing it when something goes wrong as he doesn't understand, fixing it is and paying the monthly upkeep is cheaper than a new truck payment.

I'm waiting for the Toyota diesel taco's (Hilux) and I believe they will come. They have to with the new CAFE requirements on the gas burner and the mileage a diesel can get, and it looks like our spineless congress will pass a gas tax in the not to distant future on gasoline trucks...not diesel since diesel trucks bring everything to the stores and everyone would see an increase in groceries...

I didn't price other models but what full-size truck is $23K? I priced access cab F150's at $35K. I got my DC Taco for $27.

And who wants such a damn big truck anyway! I loved my 1st gen but my offspring didn't fit in the access cabs small back seat.

I'm a new member to this group and I have to say that my recently purchased 07 TRD DC (Speedway blue) is a good-looking truck at any age. I'm 50+ and have the gift of not looking my age, but if I did look my age I wouldn't mind one bit being seen in this 'Coma. I've researched Tacoma trucks and their reliability records speak for themselves. As for assessorizing, you can pick and choose from mild to wild and everything in between.
So go ahead and enjoy your ride. I am. If I wanted a full-sized pick-up truck, I would have bought one.

No problem! It's pretty sweet and I'm not one who would ever actually PAY for a BMW.

I'm 44 and when I had the 07 it was a 2.7 lter 4 cylinder 5 speed manual and I had installed a Magnaflow cat back. On the boulevard, winding out the gears was cool but my wife always used to comment on how all the young teenagers would be the ones that were looking at my truck. lol

Now I have the 08 V6 with automatic. I don't feel like the older guy driving the young guys truck. Although from time to time I do like to mash down on the pedal just to dust the cars/trucks next to me. lol

I have had Toyota 4WD truck since 1986. I now have a 2004 4WD Tacoma. I am 62. If I ever buy another truck it will be a Tacoma.

33 here so I guess I fit in with the "normal" demographic, but when I was looking, it came down to buying a truck that would meet my needs. It had to be able to tow my boat, it had to be good away from the pavement, I wanted decent mileage, it needed to be reliable and I wanted a truck that was easier to drive around town than a full size. The Tacoma fit this bill perfectly, hence the reason I'm waiting for one :)

I also did look at the 09 F-150's and to be perfectly honest, I was impressed. It was a very nice truck but it's just gotten too big for what I want or need. It's overkill whereas the Taco is darn near perfect for what I want right now. Prices are about the same on them as well so that wasn't even really a consideration.

It all comes down to what you want and what your needs are and I think people should just buy what they want. If you are too worried about what other people think, your too busy not enjoying life.

I'm 36 so I guess I fit in with the demographic as well but I don't see it that way at all. It's not like you're driving a Miata or little sports car that has little or no utility - you're driving a TRUCK - Hey - Maybe it's the young ones that are acting older, LOL

I got to agree with your idea on younger and add "SMARTER!" That's why the young guys are saving their money or stretching their bucks to buy the best...
