Ha! The only thing I liked about the ranger, exterior wise, was the front end. Of course 3rd gen taco looks about a 100 times better. I’m biased of course but IMO 3rd gen taco is the best looking mid size.

Ford? High bed sides and those huge rear lights, not a fan haha.

I saw the new frontier recently, was driving to work. Looked really nice in person, kind of reminded me of the Chevy front end.

Yeah, but I can't say I'm surprised since most trucks in general seem to trend that way in terms of the bed.

Yeah I saw one in Death Valley last week. To me it reminds me a lot of a Tacoma. It looks almost outdated in some ways but I still like it overall.

    Working on it ...
I am on my fourth one since 1988. Well, well over 1/2 million miles all told. Over 200k or close on 2. One was totaled when it got t-boned and only had bit over 100k on it. Current truck just broke 33k. They have not been show or trophy trucks. I take care of them, but I work them and sometimes play hard with them. There is a reason I keep coming back … and if I had to go buy another truck, I would buy another Tacoma in a heart beat.

That's cool if you want a truck to use for work or garden and landscape. No carpet I will say is nice and easy to wash out. That would be a good configuration but probably a special order. Most buyers want carpet. I'm sure vinyl flooring is not often on the lot.

The rear seat delete would have to be a custom order. I have seen a few with the vinyl floor.

Everything else is part of the STX appearance pkg. You have to have the apperance pkg to get the FX4 pkg. In order to get the larger screen you have to get the STX special edition pkg on top of the apperance pkg.

Toyota should sell a V6 access cab 4x4 with the SX pkg minus the rear seat, and add a locker, black bucket seats, black bezel halogen headlights, and black bezel led fog lights... and the new TRD 16" Pro wheels in matte gray.

For me it is because I own one :).
I have owned five trucks; 3 Toyota's, one S10, and a Ridgeline. Wore all of them out.
I will most likely keep the new toyota 2018(#5), until I am worn out,(scary thought). :pumpkin:

I love my ‘21 SR5, i rented a ‘21 off road ford ranger this summer when traveling and it had a few differences. The only pro was its engine, much much smoother acceleration, compared to the taco it was amazing. The cons though were long, it had a very loud interior road noise (it was horrible), much stiffer suspension (i could feel every bump), handling was okay but more stiff than my taco (which i dont prefer), and the entertainment hud felt much more dated and lacking than my taco (however could have been due to being a fleet vehicle.)

Overall, i love my taco and enjoy driving it much more than the ranger, but i did appreciate the rangers transmission a lot.

I will agree with this. I came from a 2016 F150 2.7. I really like my Tacoma now, it's grown on me, but I miss the power of the twin turbos. My wife hates the Tacoma, she was much more comfortable in the F150. I wanted 4 doors and to get a Ford I was looking at 65+, so the Tacoma is what I bought. Best mods I added were the remote tailgate lock, bed lighting and OEM LED headlights.

I'm on my second Tacoma. Purchased my first 25 years ago, now has 415,000 trouble-free miles on it. Have spent very little on it over the years. Have turned down a $20K offer for it. Paid $16,430 for it new.
And my 2018 TRD Sport has 27,000 miles on and not a single issue to date. And I could probably get almost as much as I paid for it 3 years ago.
So yes, I'd say Tacoma is the best midsize truck.

Perhaps you'd want mine. I can't get my wife to let go of this F-150 ecoboost. 167k and it's been a headache since 60k. Constant mechanical issues, turbos overheating, transmission and shifting problems; all with regular maintenance. It is more comfortable, due to the room for people, but my wallet still feels cramped. Every time I get it that Furd cash just seems to squeeze out of my wallet. Even when it runs 'right' it only gets between 14 and 16 on highway. Fords don't last. There are a few exception, maybe, but as a general rule: Ford doesn't test their tech before releasing it to market and their resale value isn't nearly as high as Toyota.

To really make the 3rd gen Taco the best mid sized truck: get an aftermarket ecu tune. I just got an OV Tune and it completely eliminates the wimpy low rpm power (torque) of the 3.5 V6 engine. While the M/T better addresses the lack of low end power vs the A/T, nothing does the job like a Tune.

I was recently in 1st gear in a developing traffic snarl. I decided to change lanes and then make an immediate left turn. At the last second I realized the guy behind me was doing the same thing, only I was in his way, so I floored it in 1st gear and the truck LAUNCHED, like nothing I had ever experienced in that truck prior to the OV Tune.:D Probably prevented a collision.

A little side-by-side comparison of the new Frontier I ran into today. When I saw the media images prior to launch I was a little worried, I just got my Tacoma late last year and thought it might have been a good option. Not a bad looking truck but in the flesh it doesn’t compete in my opinion.
