The Social Security Administration data shows that one out of every two Americans is living in - or damn near close - to flat out poverty.

Congress, not the president, refuses to raise wages or invest in the type of education and infrastructure that could make those jobs available.

My dad was a mechanic in the 1960’s. He worked hard and was rewarded with a solid middle class life style. He started his own garage and the two men who worked for him were union members.

This is not the country my dad worked to create. And, this is not the country that we should leave our children.

The top 20% of Americans own 85% of the country's wealth. The middle class is disapearing and the cost of living has increased by about 67% since 1990. $30000 is the amount required for a single worker to have economic security. To say unions are the reason why companies started manufacturing overseas is ridiculous. The cost of cheap labor and lack of regulations far outway even the shipping cost. People blame enviromental regulations, but do they really want american cities to be as polluted as china? Blaming the unions is ridicoulous. I understand buisnesses are for profit, but this is ridicoulous. The price of college is insane, most american students are forced to pay off loans for years. America's most prestigious schools are filled with rich chinese because they have the money and education has turned into a buisness. The american dream is simply unatanible. Some believe the free market is the answer to everything. They say if you roll back regulations and don't tax the wealthy it will create more wealth. This is complete bullshit.Americans work incredibly hard but have hardly anything to show for it. We are returning back to the age of the robber barons. When Carnegie, Rockefeller, and Jp Morgan were in power, they rolled back regulations on big buisness. What was the result? Most americans became incredibly poor while the top 1% owned everything and controlled the united states. When capitalism works correctly it creates wealth for everybody. When the wealthy abuse it, it creates poverty. These are the kind of conditions which spawn communism. I really hope things change. It doesnt matter what party is in power, things stay the same.

But see this is WRONG on every level...Ur under the assumption that THOSE people with college degrees just walked in one day with those SILLY little college degrees...Those SILLY little college degrees took TIME AND MONEY to obtain...they didn't buy them at the local Walmart! U are putting ZERO value on having a education...If u feel ur mistreated then u should obtain a SILLY little college degree and get a desk job telling other how to do their job!

Anybody wondered why Toyota didn't simply expand the Baja plant by 5x in 2010 instead of building the San Antonio plant? :stirthepot:

Just what flavor was that Kool-aid anyway? (Lol)

Do you really think 50% of the people are living in poverty? I mean, look around you. Even people below the supposed poverty level here live better on the government dole than the upper class in most of the rest of the world. There is very little real poverty in America.

Congress shouldn't set wages. Employers should. Where are all of those "shovel ready" infrastructure jobs that pelosi, Reid, and Obama promised us?

Education spending is at record levels but until we can get some discipline and accountability in the schools, the amount of money spent won't make any difference.

It was a pull quote from a search on wages.
I can't speak to the union effect, if any. But I believe heavy regulation, taxation and yes, the ACA, has slowed the job market. Most new jobs are low wage and part time.
The .gov needs to GTF out of the way.

Not going to get into politics as it's not welcome.
    But I'll simply say:
    Regulation
    Taxation
    Legislation
Are a few, that have a huge impact on the job market, private industry and the economy.

Drop taxes across the board and deregulate industry is how some factions believe you can stimulate an economy , no arguing that
