Remember what happened when the government rolled back regulations and turned a blind eye on wall street? You can not expect coporations to regulate themselves. Look at china. They had very little regulations for international companies. Yes this was a reason why theyre economy boomed, lifting 250 million people out of poverty. But it came at a cost. The chinese have raped their enviroment, the workers are treated horribly and the top 1% percent own 1/3 of the country's wealth.

Relaxing suppressive regulations and lowering taxes can be done without destroying the environment or harming humans.

Multi national coporations are the last entity's that need a tax break, I do agree that smaller industry's that are experiencing growth could use it.

Not when there are ways to avoid paying taxes. Apple has 181 billion in profits held offshore. The company would owe 50 or so billion in taxes if the money were in the U.S.

Are the TW Moderators on strike?!

While this has been the most civil dialogue thread I've ever read on Unions (and frankly enlightening) why does this thread exist for 16 pages?!

I come here to TW to escape my wife, forget about my lackluster life for a bit and to broaden my knowledge of my truck and how to make my truck fit my needs for it better. While this thread kept my attention for the time I invested reading it - I'm seriously becoming more frustrated with TW. The threads are repetitive, search is NOT being used and it is becoming more difficult to find useful modification ideas that I find insightful to the Tacoma Platform.

I think it's time for me to take a TW hiatus and go spend my time over at the www.mytractorforum.com to learn about modifying my lawnmower before spring arrives.

Rant over...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year every body!

I've never understood why some people are so jealous of "the 1%" and that has grown into the current socialist "hate the rich" mantra. What is the logic behind massive taxation if you're not just going to give it away to someone else that isn't producing. People and companies should be able to keep more of what they earn, and people should earn more of what they get. There isn't a single society in history that ever taxed and regulated their way into prosperity. All it does is breed class warfare, which is what we have today. Unfortunate too many people want to further that trend.

Your argument rests on the idea that someone is actually proposing that corporations and Wall Street should be completely unregulated and free to do as they please. No one anywhere is proposing that. What many people (including myself) are saying, is that ridiculous and counterproductive regulations can be eliminated and realistic common-sense reforms can be put in place that will allow business to succeed, jobs to be created, and the tax base to expand. We are talking about reducing regulation where it makes sense - not eliminating it. When fraud, corruption, and oppression are involved, then the government should play a role in policing it - but if not, then they should stay out of the way. Current left wing thinking runs toward the idea that government has an unlimited checkbook and we can just tax the rich and the corporations and they will just pay for it all. This isn't even possible, much less moral. Even if you confiscate 100% of the wealth from the 1%, it won't pay for what the Bern is proposing, much less all of the previous shit we still owe.

The government has very little money that wasn't stolen at gunpoint from someone that actually earned it.
