SR5 remote start would remain ON when you open the door. TRD push button start will shut off when opening the door.

Hmm, I bet you could work a better deal. I worked mine. With enough talking and searching you’ll find the deal you want. The TRD is definitely worth it though, IMO.

Truck would be a daily driver. Job would entail hauling some parts around. Most of the guys have full size trucks, but the parts we carry are not that large. I've been driving a company car for so long I don't know how much modding I would do. The truck would see duty at the deer camp and shipyards and would be mine until its death...money I am open to paying more if its worth it.

Not sure on new or 3rd Gens but TRD used to also include rear diff locker. If you aren't going to off road much (or at all) save your money and get the SR5. My first 2nd gen was an SR5 and it was still ok off-road as long as clearance and big rocks were not part of the track.

In Texas the prime parking spots aren't at the front of the store, they are under the trees.

V6 and 4x4 are musts, so whatever you do get those two options, almost everything else can be figured out later. Foglights would be nice also.

TRD OR gives you crawl control and an OEM rear locker. Sport gives you that badass hood. Those are the main things.

Things to consider; DD driving/commute distance (not the most comfortable human fitment), so you’ll need to check out difference between cloth and leather seats; weight condiserations include higher trim levels = lower payload (my Limited only has a 980lb payload due to additional options, tonneau cover, and side steps); any version can go off road under normal camping/hunting road conditions. Finally, “worth it” is totally subjective (good to get others input), however only you can define that. Test drive all trim levels, and ask yourself what options you are really going to use... some “features” are really just novelties to the average user.

True...the TRD Offroads and Pro still do.
I was just listing things you can't add later, per the OP's request.

I wanted the off road capability of the rear locker and the crawl control, went with the TRD off road, its my retirement vehicle, as for your daily driver I had a 4 banger 4x4 SR5 before the trade in on the TRD

4WD is awesome and I looooove my locker.

But I'm also going to push this truck pretty hard so I'll need it. Good driving can get you through a lot, even in 2WD. But not all of us are pro off-roading, rock crawling maniacs so having the locker to get out of a tricky situation without much hassle is quite nice for my learning curve. Crawl control has also been nice in a couple places where traction was an issue, though hindsight, if I had just aired down I think I wouldn't have needed it. That said, I've never used CC in an aired down state. It'll be interesting to see how bad a situation where I'll need to be aired down and engaging CC.

Well you either have to get the Sport or the Pro to get the hood. Considering the Pro is outside of most people's responsible spending limit that sort of narrows it down. In theory you could always swap hoods with a Sport owner but I don't think there are a ton of people who are lining up to get rid of their hoods.

New suspension w/ wheel tire upgrade on an SR5 > TRD, if you don't need a locker to offroad which most people shouldn't. But if you want to stay stock parts like some people do to keep warranties in check, understandably, get the trd OR
