If you get a good deal on Tundy brake parts then sure it's worth it. Is it necessary? I don't think so. Not unless you overlanded out your Taco with all the hot Gram add-ons and now weigh more than a Land Cruiser.

    OP,
If you have ABS, ditch that garbage and rear LSPV.
Add a Wilwood unit to dial in when the rear brakes come in.
Once set, it’s a beautiful thing.

What is this Wilwood unit that you speak of? Do you have a link?

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

Has a LOT to do with it. (I'd bet you'd still be amazed at the Tundra brakes though)

So many people ride the brakes like an old lady and then blame the brakes for not lasting long enough or having enough stopping power. Take your foot off the gas people, it'll slow you down too.

I drive like a grandma and try to squeeze MPGs out my truck.
Constantly coasting and light on throttle. Still killed the brakes. I'm overlanded out though so the downhills is what does it on my truck. In the auto very hard to find sweet spot coasting.
In a manual would be much easier on the brakes.

So now you have to manually adjust it based on weight in the bed vs the original that does it automatically. More of a down grade for convenience sake.

    Negative...
Set it once and forget it.

EDIT: What convenience are you talking about?

    Does it self adjust?

No, took about an hour of testing/ adjusting but once set, it's all good.
I must point out that I added this after I removed all of my ABS system, including the bulb in the dash.
    Stops on a dime.

It's only set for what ever weight you were carrying at the time you set it. If the rear load changes then it's out of bias. Hopefully you won't have to panic stop at that time cause you could end up sliding further than you want.

Lot of good info here guys, thank you to the people with experience with the mod sharing their personal experiences - that was mostly what I was after. I figure that if it doesn't mess up the braking by making it grabby or that kind of thing, then it's not much more to get the whole tundra kit vs replacing stock rotors and pads (rotors are going to need replacement at time of pads based on current wear). I still haven't decided, but based on the fact that I do occasionally carry significant weight in the bed (steel, multiple motorcycles, etc), it might be a worthwhile investment for me. I do already find this truck does not brake as well as my old 5 lug, so when I drive this truck heavily weighted in the near future, it will probably further inform me. My last pickup had airlift load management (which I may also add to this pickup), and it was definitely necessary (truck would be bottomed if not for the air) for the load I was carrying at least once a month... And I expect that in time, I'll be putting this truck to the same tests

Go back years ago when one actually drove a vehicle without electronics. This simply works, period.
If your truck is stock, you’ll never know what this is about. That’s OK though.

    OP,
If this is really a concern after many posts on the topic, figure it out. This works, period. It greatly improves braking without concern.
My truck has gained 1,200 pounds since birth in ‘03 and has zero issues.
You will not regret this upgrade.
    Good luck.
