Does anyone have a cheat sheet for camper shells? For example, if a camper came off a Ford, Nissan, or any other truck will it fit a 2nd gen Tacoma Double Cab?

The answer is pretty much no. They make each shell for specific rigs anymore. If you get something like a GFC or AT Topper, most of those have fit kits made to attach to different trucks of the same bed size, but those aren't simple toppers.

Thirty years ago Ford, Chevy and Dodge 8' beds could use the same shells. Chevy and Dodge short beds were the same, Ford was the same width, but 2" longer. Jeep trucks were completely different in width and length.

But that was then, this is now. You might find a shell from another truck that will fit the bed rails and not leak. Might not. But it isn't going to look good on the truck.

Only 2nd gen shells fit 2nd gens. 1st gens fit, but they sit in on the bedsides and leave a gap on the outside of the shell. No others fit, frontiers have a wierd curve by the cab. I've been searching for a shell since I got my truck two years ago. I am number two in line for one tomorrow, I'm praying the other guy backs out.

The only ones that swap around are the flimsy aluminum canopies with the c-clamps. Anything fiberglass is going to be vehicle specific
