there's a guy in Truckee getting rid of one and I'd really like to have a shell. The problem is that he wrote "Will fit 1989-1995 Toyota Tacoma." My guess is, his nomenclature is a bit off- Toyota pickups did not actually have a model _name_ until the Tacoma came out in "95.5". Correct?
Anyways, can anyone point me in the right direction for this info? Or tell whether or not the shell will fit my 96 ext. cab? (2 door 2wd).
    Thanks peeps!

Yeah...he may have meant to say "Will fit 1989-1995 Toyota Pickup". Biggest concern of course is will the beds hold-down bolt holes line up with your frame an still have the bed snugged up by the cab.

thanks for replying.-and I wouldn't have thought to check to line-up on the holes (until too late, duh), was only thinking about actual dimensions! Thanks so much for your response, now I'll know what else to be aware of next time (dude texted me back not long after I posted to tell me the shell had just been picked up. drat!)

FWIW the shell on mine is held down by clamps--no mounting holes. I'm not even sure if holes are available, I bought mine used with the shell already on it.

I briefly put a shell meant for a 89-95 on my 02 ext. cab tacoma and it hit the 3rd brake light on the cab, and was shorter in height than the cab and looked bad in my opinion....
