I have a 2000 2.4 and I hooked my trailer up and the running lights lit up when I turn the lights on but the brake and turn signals won't work?

Yes there is a fuse (at least in the 2nd gens) but that doesn't sound like the problem. I wire a lot of trailers and I've had this happen before and it's usually the result of a poor ground or the wires going to the lights having a loose connection somewhere. First try wiggling the plug and making sure its getting full contact and then if that doesn't work examine the wires. Also, some lights have a separate bulb for blinkers that might be blown but if the brake lights are the same as running and not getting brighter try what I said above.

If it has the tow package, then there is a relay on the back wall behind seat, 3" square box w/wiring harness running into it from bottom. There is inline fuses there. Other than that there may be a fuse under the hood also, i dont remember.

You almost definitely have a loose wire somewhere, most likely a ground. If you have a 2.4 there's no tow package and you have some kind of aftermarket trailer light setup. Does your plug on the truck say Uhaul on it?

If it has factory toyota trailer light harness there is a relay box somewhere. It has those fuses to protect the rest of the lighting system. Mine use to blow fuses backing boat into water until i switched to sealed LED units.

Where was it located on your truck? I said relay but it is a converter. Was just wondering if they mount them in different places.
