-15 this morning. That is one of the coldest steering wheels I have ever owned.

Gloves-yes. Cheap and easy. But, well... my Sienna was way better than this (and its a... van.) Clearly I need to suck it up. Doesn't hurt to ask though. Like the pink fluff!

Yep, soft wool gloves is the ticket. Plus you can just stick then in your jacket pocket when not needed.

You can buy Lexus truck or foreign market Toyota truck steering wheels, but unfortunately the air bag also needs to be dealt with and purchased, which has absolutely no real quality certification unless it’s been purchased from Toyota or Lexus directly. It becomes very expensive for very little performance improvement.

Why not just buy a very nice set of leather driving gloves. I have a black pair of Uggs from Marshall’s I paid maybe $20...perfect tactile feel while keep the fingers warm in -10 F temperatures.

Just gonna throw it out there, gloves are no replacement for a heated wheel.

I do side work for a landscaper, he’s got a 2018 Dodge, decked out, awesome truck. It’s got a heated wheel. It gets so damn toasty. It’s delicious.

That being said, I wear gloves haha. Would love a kit to put a heated wheel in my Tacoma and beater Subaru.

I don't know if it's possible to cut open the stock wheel and install a used heating element.

Another option would be to retrofit one from a Lexus or something.
That could open the question of what to do about an airbag. Older vehicles tend to be single stage "all or nothing". Either it goes off or it doesn't. One stage only. Hence the name single stage deployment.

newer airbags are said to be dual stage. More wires running into them. More (two) stages/levels of operation depending on how much propellant is sent to inflate the airbag. So that if you get in a big crash above a certain speed, it really inflates the airbag a lot, but not as much if it's a lower speed crash.
Some people when doing such work/swaps modify the wiring in a way they think will convert it (using a harness) to make it able to act in a single stage manner.

another option might be heated tape. Wrapping around the stock wheel (whether trimming/shaving it down or not) and then a layer of leather on top of that. Like when people buy wraps that go over the steering wheel that sews together, to add perforated leather, colored stitching, etc

I don't see what's wrong with buying a used factory genuine airbag that has not been deployed

something about the mountain views and cheaper gas of those places is just unattractive

Why not have an auto start and toast up the whole cabin before you jump in?

I under stand this thought but when you have a heated steering wheel life can be so much better, I would love to hear of anyone who got the after market on and put the OEM air bag in it?
