Is there anything that will improve the low end of my 3.5 in stick shift it's honestly horrible on logging roads, I have to rev the pis out of it. can never use second on any hill. So much boggy lag under 3K.

Is there a reprogrammer/intake mod that will improve it? I just need some low end

Why do I even bother posting questions.... to reiterate I am looking for a "MOD" or "UPGRADE" or "REFLASH" to improve bottom end of ENGINE.

Don't know what's up with the name calling, but low range will help with low end. Any dummy knows that though

I doubt anyone makes one yet but a heavier flywheel might help some. My dad has a 16 6 speed and he hates the lack of tourque compared to his 4.0 6 spd fj.

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You understand exactly what I am trying to ask for help with on the engine. Did him or any speed shop find a solution, it needs more bottom end and baaaadly.

Unfortunately, the 3.5 is thinly torqued at lower RPMs and has to be revved to get into the power band.

The only thing that would significantly improve the lower power band is a supercharger.

3.5 liters without forced induction is going to have to rev to move some air/create power.

Regearing won't technically improve your power, it will get your engine into its power band quicker (more revs to turn the axles the same amount).

Regearing is not a cheap endeavor. Figure on at least $1000 for gears and installation front and rear.

A heavier flywheel won't add any power either.

A flywheel stores energy and a heavier one will allow for easier clutch engagement without "slipping" it so much.

It may help you get started more easily, but it won't really improve your performance.

No problem. Ur issue now is finding one or getting one made or maybe even having it modified. I honetly just thought of this for the 3rd gen i gotta let him know about it.

Regear is your only option. Unless someone makes a supercharger or comes out with a turbo setup which I doubt that will probably be the only option ever. There won't be a programmer, the ECU software is complex enough with it running Otto to Atkinson. Toyota already used gear ratios to try and make up for the loss of power with the Atkinson cycle

I have to disagree with that. The heavier flywheel will increase the bottom end.
Just like putting a flywheel weight on a dirt bike. Gives you more bottom end.
And yea ull get more power with boost but thats not the only answer

Atkinson is only used while cruising or light load. So that argument is irrelevant

Long tube headers help with low end torque but not enough to notice really. Plus I don't know of anyone making them yet and it would be tough to be emissions legal.

Like others have said, a taller gear will be the cheapest and. It's effective mod currently. Next would be a super charger.
