    There are no separate exhaust ports on the 3.5. Probably nothing to be gained

    Not really. The motor had plenty of power when your on it or if you hit the ect power button because it puts the motor in Otto cycle and remaps everything. The problempeople are complaining about is the "low end" which is when the motor is in Atkinson cycle. They want the grunt like the old 4.0 had. Unfortunately this motor isn't capable of that even though overall it has more HP and almost as much torque

    Incorrect. But if you provide Toyota factory information supporting your theory I'd love to take a look.

    A flywheel will not increase bottom end. It will be more resistant to "bogging" due to storing more energy and thereby requiring more energy to slow it down.

    Search it.

    No low end power because it a low displacement DOHC v6 that is designed to be strung out. It's not a 8.1 liter made for massive Low end torque

    theory? When do you think Atkins cycle runs? Surely not when your at 4-6.5k rpm. I've posted the videos of Mike Sweers explaining it plenty of times. I'll post it again for you

    No it wont actually increase torque but it helps keep the rpms up. I think thats kinda what the op wants is for more bottomw end. The flywheel would acomplish that.

    It runs at cruising such as on the highway. I can tell when it's running based on the intake sound

    Lol you are a dirt bike guy too.... I find it hilarious that my truck engine has a power band similar to a 1990 cr 500. lol Every time I drive this on logging roads I think serioussly... come on toyota.

    I mean it can be gutless, but as long as it has bottom end that's usable.

    PLEASE someone build a supercharger kit for it, I don't even care about top rpm power, just a small turbo or supercharger to give it instant throttle resp and low end power.

    If you think this 3.5 is that gutless at low rpm and Toyota isn't running Atkinson at low rpm to get better fuel economy you're crazy. What do you think ect power is doing? It's not turning on your super charger

    Good call, I might actually literally do this. it's an ok truck, it's a bit gimmacky. All my friends that have 2nd gen have a reliable good truck. They tried waaay too hard to appeal to soccer moms with this new one.;

    Buy a 6.6l+ diesel if you need the low end power.

    He's the lead truck engineer. So that's the face and spokesperson for Toyota. To get the fuel economy they are trying to get that motor is running Atkinson cycle as much as possible. That's why it's lacking the power and they changed the gear ratios to try and compensate for that. If they only ran it at cruising speeds on the highway then the injector cleaning cycle wouldn't occur at a red light in the city. The magical "ECT power" button does nothing more than keep or put the engine in full I Otto cycle and remaps fuel tuning and transmission shift points.

    Yea, because it's running it in Otto cycle and not allowing it to go into Atkinson cycle
