Is there a normal disposable oil filter for these trucks?

I can see that with the setup that techs have. What ever makes it easier for them. I’d rather keep from creating a mess while I’m laying on the floor

the greatest part about the canister filter design is that i can drain all the oil out of the filter before removal.

any standard filter remains full, so it's like trying to run with a full glass of orange juice in grandma's house, when attempting to unscrew it and drop it in a way to not spill anything...

What to you mean "full" lol? Just about every spin on car I've have has it mounted to the side of the block so it pukes out most of the oil before it fully unscrew off. My Subaru is straight up but it also holds oil about the spin on filter so I puncture that can to drain it first before unscrewing.

I'm all for the new cartridge filters too. It's so much cleaner and less waste. And I'm sure most people don't recycle their spin ons like they should. I know I didn't for a long time. So now I only have to bring used oil in and not a box of oily spin ons I've collected.

i meant with the filter installed in the location it is facing up. my other car, the filter is installed facing down, so there's very little oil in it when i go to remove it.

i've honestly tried to recycle my filters, but every place i check with that takes my used oil, they lol about recycling the filters, and offer me their standard trash can for it. so i normally toss them in with my normal steel scrap stuff.

    Not really.
Funny how the 2024 Tacoma has a spin on filter.

I have a tool I bought years ago to pierce and drain aviation oil filters. The less clean up the better.
