That's awesome. I'm super jealous. 10' lengths would have been wicked for a table or book shelf.

This is the right way to "level" your trucks, kids. Still three inches off the bump-stops. ;-) OME Dakar + leaf FTW.

I recycle ewaste 20tons or more/yr, sometimes scrap metal. Here is a few shots.

9-27 gallon totes bricked together at least 1000lbs in the bed plus another 800 inside the cab of laptops.

2600lb server on a really heavy hydraulic drop trailer pulled by taco but cut off in picture.

Scrap metal mixed with computer load

    Computers/servers well over 1,000lbs.

Pretty sweet! I bet you find a lot of awesome stuff. So, is this just a side gig or do you make a full time living out of it?

Until 2 years ago it was very profitable but also very competitive. Now precious metal prices have come down and it's no longer a new concept so companies are figuring things out on the pricing/refining end and I have more customers than I can handle and very little competition. I have another job but I do this full time as well. It is very labor intensive and not nearly as profitable as it was. I recently hit a low of $22/hr so I'm changing to only free pickup to maximize profit. I find all sorts of cool/awesome stuff and also have a business of re-selling on craigslist/ebay. I have learned trash=treasure and the things I score for free or VERY cheap amazes myself and others.

Xaks-I'm no sys admin, I rub elbows with them and tell them to let me come do the removal so they don't get their hands dirty or hurt their backs :) . I like switches, servers, old pentium pro,386, 486, ram, etc, but I'm just in it for the precious metal :).

I'm the rare sysadmin that has the calloused hands and strong back and does the removal himself.

BUT...I've seen you guys around other shops many a time over the years and I lurve you guys :) You're the ones I go have a beer with after work when the wimps at the office go home!

Thread revival! 2790 lbs. landscape stone plus 30 lbs. for pallet, plus approximately 100 lbs of toolbox, plus 5 wet boxwood plants in the back seat, about another 100 lbs. About 3,170 lbs with myself in the truck. Actually didn't drive that bad. My dakars were for sure on the bumps the whole way home.249.jpg

Cord of oak, and wood splitter in the trailer. Toolbox with chsinsaws, and various wood splitting tools, and cart in the bed.

This past weekend I had two yards of 3/4 crushed stone in the trailer. It didn't LOOK as impressive, but it was heavier...

image.jpg Two seater outhouse in the back end. It was functional for 62 years (the outhouse). This was also my favorite truck ever. Totally maxed out- I drove the 27 miles to the dump at about 4mph. Had she been front wheel drive I don't think we would have made it.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
2 1 ton totes of wheat seed, pallet forks for a front end loader, and a steel trailer which i believe was carved from a solid block of metal, forged from the heat of a thousand suns, and i would guess it weighs somewhere around 2 grand.
