Is there a reason modern trucks don't come with fully sealed frames to prevent rust?

All Toyota has to do to end this conversation is send their frames to Ford to be properly coated. The Ford e-coated frames are great. The difference between our fleet of neglected work trucks and my personal Tacoma (that I clean and fluid film and touch up) is astonishing. The fords do not require any attention and stay mostly rust free year after year. The Taco rusts even when you do your best to prevent it.

As a test, I have never washed the underside of my latest F150 work truck, for comparison to my Tacoma that I stress over. The F150 is a 2018, and the Taco a 2017. There is no comparison. Ford wins this round.

It’s a fact that Toyota chooses to provide us a drastically inferior frame coating for reasons known only to them. Probably ‘Kaizen’ or some stupid shit like that.

 

I bet that frame is showroom new.

 

WD-40 is water soluable and freezes. I wouldn't use it for this.

 

From what i've seen their coating at best is black chassis paint....good for a couple years if in the northeast.

 

I would have paid another $1K for electroplated galvanize on all the steel parts.

Rust through repairs around here are done with galvanneal .
