Used to own a Subaru STI before the Taco and there was a "Subaru Wave" between other WRX / STI owners. But I have not had a single person in a Taco wave or wave back.

This. I drove Jeeps for a long time before buying my Tundra, then my Tacoma. Funny thing I noticed is that when I drove my CJ7, the only people that waved were people with "built" Jeeps. That usually came with a 3rd and 4th glance back as well. Guessing people with stockers maybe didn't know mine was a Jeep.

It is really a shame. The Jeep is so capable but for whatever reasons Chrysler doesn't engineer anything to last.

I started out waving at every Taco, but now I just wave at modded trucks. I get a wave back most of the time. I definitely park near Tacomas though. I’m hoping they at least don’t bang my doors. There’s a whole thread on parking next to other Tacos.

I’ve heard from some old time Jeep guys that the wave is dying out because a lot of soccer moms and yuppie types driving Jeeps like a normal SUV don’t know what’s up.

This is exactly right and what I was about to say. I used to wave at Jeeps but every soccer mom and wannabe is driving them now. I have a modified YJ and now only wave to other modified jeeps.

Surprisingly my taco got a few waves while we were driving around Moab and arches.

The wave was exclusive to wranglers for a long time but as soon as they made the unlimited the market became flooded. It’s rare to see a two door wrangler

Thanks for all the welcomes. I loved my Jeep and the wave is alive and well here in AZ. Unfortunately, I bought in 2010 and Chrysler was using their mini van engine from 2007-2011 due to overstock of the blocks. This was a budget decision in their flagship product. I learned the hard way. Now I don’t trust it and feel it’s time to part ways.

I just want reliable. I am not hardcore off roading looking to conquer nature. I just want to be able to go out there and enjoy 99.9% of the trails comfortably

I guess its kind of gay. Never seen anybody waving and wouldn't respond.

Had a bro in MGM stick his whole arm out the window pointing at me:rofl:. He was across the median going the other direction about 50 mph. Wifey and I both just started laughing. I normally never wave back on city streets, but If I had my window down I would have pointed back on this one
However I give every vehicle a little wave passing on a trail. I'm much more friendly offroad.

Taco wave isn't really a thing, but in UT I've gotten the wave from other built up toyotas. Seems our thing is to shyly park next to each other in parking lots and hope they are scoping your truck out when you come out of the store.

Same boat here. The "Subie wave" happened 9/10 times. I try to wave to other tacos, but I guess the people I pass with only a pro grille slapped on don't get it :annoyed:
