Found several for the cabin air intake but the little beasties are getting into the engine air intake. Advice on screen etc to alleviate this problem appreciated.. Thanks in advance

Here's your solution. Mounts directly below the engine airbox/intake. Just uninstall before driving.

Put some 1/2" hardware cloth (aka hail screen) in the opening. Works on the cabin fresh air intake as well.

That is a good one... considered the option; however, my allergic reaction would be discomforting...

We’ve seen that kind’ve wire used and chewed through. It’s important to get a steel mesh that has small spaces so they cannot get their teeth and jaws in there to chew it.

Does it impact air intake or I guess my concern is how easily it can get clogged...

Personally, I wouldn’t put screen over the air box. Typically when we find nests there, they don’t crawl up to the filter and damage it. We simply remove the debris and vac out the box. If the filter isn’t bad, vac it out as well. For the cabin air, I’d use the small mesh and every once in a while remove leaves stuck on it. It’s better to do that than have a mouse damage the dash, cabin filter, fan, and possibly make their way into the cab. We see cars getting totaled for mouse issues left and right. I just had another Prius get totaled yesterday from it.

These little bas$#@s are going alll the way to the filter and chewing on it. Nesting at the filter. I have removed two already, so i am looking for options. No cabin air issues but I am going to cover that big hole!

Put a steel mesh over the inlet where it goes into the fender well. I did that because I had a brand new air filter chewed up. Ozarkie has pictures in his post do both of those spots.

Visit your closest store that sells outdoor products. See if you can find scent wafers, used in hunting, that smells like a predator; coyote, Fox, etc. . Hang in or near area of concern. Odor usually isn’t too strong for us humans, but critters like squirrels or mice don’t like it. They think there’s some predator living there ready to eat them.

This, or get some peppermint scented rodent repellent. Works pretty well for me and my wife's vehicles. Just spray down the areas of concern and it should keep them way

any steel mesh used needs to be ~.25" square. I used some expanded metal that was ~.25X.5" diamond openings, I could only get half my pinkie nail into it, and a mouse cruised thru it.

You could try cayenne pepper. Our yard suffers from moles and I sprinkled cayenne pepper over the area where they most often tunnel and to date I haven't seen any tunnels.
