Trying to figure out if I am screwed or there is hope. I have a 2006 4x4 Access cab and it falls under the frame recall that was done. I took the truck to get it in spected by a dealer in texas, before the recall expired. His response was "Since texas is a warm weather state, the recall does not apply" This made no sense. The truck has been in NY and VA from 2006-2017, and was only in texas a year.

I called Toyota, but they said the warranty is now closed and the fact that dealership closes the warranty, there is nothing they can do. I go take my truck to get inspected today and the machanic said my frame looks like swiss cheese. I have noticed it but did not realize it was that bad..

Is there any hope with Toyota cutomer care? Am I screwed? I know I should have fought harder sooner..

    Advice?

I figured as much.. I do not think I have much to go on to prove anything. I mean logic would think that there is no way my frame went to where it is now in a less than a year..Man I see some frame repair in my future :/

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
You could get a Carfax report that will show where the truck has been registered. Thus proving its had a life in a cold (winter) climate state.

It does not matter where your truck is from or spent its life - cold state, warm state, lukewarm state. The 'cold state' requirement was solely for the application of the CRC. If your truck met the criterion for a frame replacement within its time limits, it should get the replacement. BTW, this deal is NOT a recall - it is the legal terms in the settlement of class action suit.

Your dealer in TX was either ignorant of how the replacement program worked, or just flat out lied to you. In any case, 2006 trucks are beyond the date. I'm sorry.

Thank you all.. I know. I KNEW they were blowing smoke. Makes me so mad. I debated calling and harassing tacoma over and over for weeks/months of end.. but I really have no claim at this point :/

So I just got off the phone with my dealership and they said they are willing to "sponsor" me to corp Toyota to try to get them to make an exception. They said they are willing to take pictures and send them to corporate and explain that the inspection that was done by a "warm weather mechanic" was wrong and get them to claim on my behalf.... If this false hope? or is there any advice to help this along or make a case? I know dealerships make good money on these so hopefully they want to help me.

I've never heard of Toyota making an exception for anyone (and there have been a lot of threads on here from people that have missed the deadline and begged the dealerships to help them out), but that doesn't mean it's never happened before. I wouldn't get your hopes up, they might just be trying to make it sound like they "did everything they could" when in reality they know Toyota won't budge. Or, maybe they happen to know that Toyota can budge on it with the right persuasion. Just don't get your hopes up too much

If they're willing to argue on your behalf to Toyota, there's no point in stopping them. It may still be a no, which doesn't necessarily mean no. See what happens. If its still a no, call a few lawyers. If that's too costly for you, THEN you're screwed.
