Is there anything on this truck that doesn't destroy itself with rust??

Brake dust is highly corrosive shit, so nothing but regular cleaning and greasing will protect those from rust.

I reinstalled mine with the clips out, so I have a clearer hammer swing to punch them out of the caliper, into the wheel well.

You may be correct . Its not salt water in the tank at the beginning , however , with the many salt contaminated vehicles being washed , our regulations for allowing the dirty water back into the environment are similar to your regulations . I am curios to know how they go about removing the contaminated salty water from the fresh water

That's what I've done underneath. I did my suspension after 3 winters and not a single bolt gave me issues.

The irony is the only spot I have any surface rust on the truck is underneath the top of the back bumper (so the surface underneath the top step) and that's simply because the spare blocked access to FF it.

Granted, I haven't done anything with my calipers, so I'm afraid to see what I'll encounter there.

I pulled my spare from underneath 2 years ago. With the spare underneath the truck,it holds too much water & dirt.
As a result everything around it rusts.
Throw the spare in the bed & lock it with a chain to a tie down.

X2, 5 years in NY and nothing looks good. Even if it was aluminum it would oxidize to just white powder. I fluid film everything and my bolts and leaf springs don't have any rust on them.
