I heard it’s good to get in highway once in a while and floor the car and let the engine breathe and get rid of all gunks and carbon deposits.

does that apply to the Tacoma’s 3.5 littler D4S engine?

After putting 30k mile on my 2022 tacoma today I gave it a good floor in highway. Is that good and healthy for the longevity of the truck and engine or should I not doing at all not even once in a while.

You will get many opinions on this topic, much like what is the best oil.

Personal OPINION - It's not needed and just drive as you would. Given the power (or lack thereof) I find that just in normal driving it gets exercised pretty often. At the end of the day it's your truck, so you do you, just make sure the engine is fully warmed up otherwise it could be harmful in the long run.

I don't know the answer to your question. Are you using a Top Tier rated gasoline brand like the owner's manual recommends? These brands help limit the build-up of gunk inside the engine with extra detergents (more than the bare minimum required by the government).

I think it's good to "open her up" once in a while ;-) without abusing the engine. That is - operate it at a range of RPMs.

Tacoma has plenty of power available, just have to use the skinny pedal.

I rarely floor it, usually only when passing.

We still call it that. (Am I getting old? Don't know. I'm not a youth anymore)

    OP:
The way I see it, you paid for the whole rev range, you ought to use the whole range. Every now and then I'll use 100% power on the freeway on ramp for fun. And sometimes passing on the highway asks for full throttle (especially in the fat 4R).

On the flip side, engines that barely see any revs (or pressure) do have issues more often, so a happy medium would be better, at least.

+1 on wait until the engine is warm before WOT shenanigans.

    Three points to that logic.

It is good to get your Tacoma (any car and especially those that have a turbo) up to operating temps and run the engine for about 30 to 45 minutes at normal RPM's once every couple of weeks. This lets all of the moisture that condensates inside the engine cook out of the oil.

It is good to get your Tacoma (any car and especially those that have a turbo) up to operating temps and then have a spirited run (higher RPM's mean more exhaust flow) onto the freeway once every couple of months to clear out the catalytic converters. Much less of an issue now than it was in the 1980's because cats are made better and are mounted closer to the engine where they stay warmer, but still beneficial none the less.

It is good to get your Tacoma (any car and especially those that have a turbo) up to operating temps and then whomp on that skinny pedal because your soul wakes up. :burnrubber:

If it had a carburetor, I might see the benefit.
In a Tacoma, it's just going to remind you of how under powered it is.

I take it up to about 85mph all the time. That's about my cruising speed on the freeways where I live.:anonymous:

You just have to factor in the coriolis effect and adjust accordingly so you don't throw the earths rotation off. Totally safe if done right.

i worry about my passenger side floorboard every time i open it up.

but really, the biggest joy in revving the truck up is hitting the second set of intake tracts at 4k rpm, keeping the motor singing all the way to redline, and then letting the front end bounce like an old gasser in between gear shifts. the bounce makes it feel like there's actually power to control!
