I have heard a number people saying that the 3.5 has deceleration fuel cutoff (DFCO), but also that it might be disabled on those with the manual transmission based on OBD scanner info.

In any case, I don’t think you are accomplishing much of anything related to cooling. The truck has a cooling system to take care of that for you. But if you want to know for sure, buy a OBD scanner to get better water temp info. Exhaust gas temp might be more interesting in your case, but I don’t think the taco has such a sensor. I could be wrong.

One final thought… your analysis of air flow assumes that the pressure of the air inside the cylinder is the same during acceleration and deceleration which is not likely to be correct. When you close the throttle at high rpm you cause a low pressure situation in the cylinder.

Fuel being cutoff at the de-accel. Short terms fuel trims are at 0.
    Lambda sensors report 1.23.
intake valve timing is set to 30°, exhaust valve timing 0°, maf reports around 8-9 gm/sec at 66 mph/1600 rpms, trottle plate is set to 4°

MAF is between the air cleaner box and TB.
Otherwise the whole system ain't gonna work.
One note, it is closed loop EFI. The fuel compensation is done via lambda sensors, short and long fuel trims to maintain 1.47 afr

Sure is. I guess getting to 0-60 in 7 secs is not good enough for some people.

I think some people have neglected their morning calf exercises and have lost the ability to push the gas pedal to the floor. I’d never owned an automobile that could do 0-60 is under 10s before the taco.

EDIT: I forgot about my 90’s Mitsubishi Mirage that could do it around 7s as well if I remember right.
