Likely totaled (honestly doesn't take much with engineered 'crumple zones'). Let them pay you out, buy it back totaled and fix it. Maybe long travel :)

The frame is curved in a coke bottle shape to begin with. (OE rear bumper mounts are splayed outward.) Only way to know is to put it on a rack and take some measurements against dimensions in the collision repair manual.

All speculations . However watching the video and knowing tacomas frame aren't that sturdy, bent frame is a high possibility

What year make and model was that car? It looked like an Outback, or Crosstrek. No eyesight on that car to apply the brakes or any thing?

I wonder if the auto breaking applied the brakes for some reason, and that confused the driver, if equipped. This didn't look like the running your car into the 7-11 kind of crash. The driver went a good distance.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the frame is bent. I also wouldn’t be surprised if insurance opts to repair

That's more than "I missed the brake". Her license should be suspended as an immediate threat until cleared by a doctor.

My favorite response. I knew when I posed the question that there's no way to know without getting in there with some diagnostics. Same thing in medicine!

That's a fair point and I knew when I posed the question that it would all be speculation. I was hoping there'd be something obvious in the pictures that would make it clear one way or the other. Alas, that is not the case. Hopefully the body shop and the assessor can give me some info soon.

Given Taco pricing these days, I doubt it will be totaled unless there is frame damage. The body damage shown is about $15-20K depending on who does the work and the expected quality. You'd have to get more than a few new parts, then, likely, repaint a chunk of the truck so that the new bed blends in.

If the owner chooses to part, let us know. Interested in interior pieces.
