Even here in south Florida, the land of huge flags flying on the back of trucks lifted so high you need a rope ladder to get into them, the only comment I've gotten was in the parking lot of my local Lowe's. Guy came up to me and said "hey, nice truck!" At least a third of the trucks I see on the road here are Tacos or Tundras.

anyone tied that strongly to a brand really has some bigger issues. and unfortunately, it's getting harder and harder to buy anything that is 100% made here.

I forgot what source I got this from but it’s from like 6 months ago and I saved it because I wanted to show my Pops and my uncle who were giving a hard time for not buying a Chevy or a Ford. Turns out it’s just as American or more.

I've only ever had one person say anything to me.. And it was just mostly a gentle rib-poking. I said 'You do know my truck was built in Texas, right?'
They were 'Really? Oh .... Didn't know that...'
I don't see much of anyone getting bent these days about 'Why didn't you buy American!?' because different rigs are built everywhere...
I've got a Toyota that was built in Texas .. And a Dodge van that was built in Canada ... So, there ya go.

I don't have a problem supporting people in other countries. A strong trade relationship is a good thing.

Some of the most "American" cars on the market are built in Canada. Dodge Challenger and Charger, Chrysler 300 and the Ford GT which was also developed and tested here.

Parts are sourced from global suppliers.

It has been many many many years since a vehicle was 100% domestic parts.

Back in the '70s, Chrysler was using Mitsubishi engines. Harley has been using ignition systems from Japan for many years. I could continue, but I think you all get the drift.

Delco-Remy is a global supplier of numerous parts for vehicles from many years. They have factories in China, Japan, Veit Nam..........

Oh there will be some mods all right
I think the only areas where people care that you're driving "one of those foreign cars" is where there is a Ford or Chevy manufacturing facility and the surrounding 15 mile area. Otherwise no one cares at all.

Back in my younger days, I use to do a good bit of consulting work at automotive plants. Whenever we traveled to visit a GM or Ford facility, we would make damn sure we rented an American made car. Some of those UAW boys did not take too kindly to a rice burner sitting in their parking lot.

Yeah I actually read an article where if an employee didn't have a domestic vehicle they actually had to park in a further away parking lot

Back when I had a BMW someone once asked me how I liked my Nazi sled. This was in a parking lot though, not at a stop light.

Otherwise never heard a word of slander in all my time owning a Volvo, a VW, a Honda, the aforementioned BMW, and now two Tacos.

I work in a pretty conservative area and occasionally see people with signs on their cars that say things like "buy American" and stuff like that. However, I have never received any shit from anyone about my truck. As a matter of fact, I expected to get razzed by coworkers more than I have. But considering 3 of us (out of like 15) drive Toyota vehicles, no one really cared that much. This despite me giving heavy shit to people who drive RAM trucks at work.

Can’t say I’ve been scolded for buying a Toyota on the street. I have gotten many compliments about my truck though
