there isnt much markup on a gun and the only reason i say this is because i went to the shot show last year and i saw all the dealer pricelist for companies such as cabelas and there is about a 10-15% markup on a gun.

Hope you enjoyed the $200 item that triggered her shopping trip :D

Seriously... A friend wanted a new guitar.
    Wife gave the OK.
He got a great deal on it... $1500 G&L for $600.
It cost him $600 plus a grand piano.

Another friend bought a $200 modem (this was back in the days when 14.4k was fast). His wife found the receipt.
2 weeks later he "found" (more like was intended to find) a Nordstrom's receipt for almost 2k.

That's what I've always heard, not much markup at most shops on new guns. Nothing like the big markups on stuff like furniture.

But used guns is are a different story. They usually buy those only for rock bottom trade-in prices, so there is usually a lot of room to play with.

I just purchased a RIA 1911 GI for $419. That was the sale price and the sales person wouldn't go any lower.

    Planning on a G19 next.

I was at a local gun store today and they had a $600 mark-up above MSRP on an AR-10. I know smaller stores have more overhead, but seriously... Plus they advertise they have the lowest prices in town and they'll match any price. I didn't say anything b/c I wasn't buying that day. Only looking and researching.

At least at Turners or Bass Pro, they're +- $50 on MSRP not $600.
