Took my filler cap off and found this today. I have no other symptoms of a head gasket issue. Never overheats, no smoke from the tailpipe, coolant doesn’t seem to be leaking. The truck basically sat for three months this summer when I had surgery. Is this conclusive evidence of a gasket failure?

Looks like it. Pressure test the coolant system and see if it holds pressure.

Just that by itself doesn't mean you have a blown head gasket. That can be caused by moisture building up in the engine from repeated short trips. Keep an eye on your coolant levels, check your oil and clean that crap out of there. If you have no other symptoms I wouldn't worry too much about it. Change the oil if it makes you feel better.

In my experience short trip condensation is no where near that severe.

I'd say you have a little oil intrusion or something going on.

I'd clean it well, do a coolant swap, and do a pressure test while doing it

    Let the results guide you

If I was a betting man I would say you have an issue somewhere in your system.

Yikes. Can't say I've seen one that bad. I'd agree with cleaning it up and at least do an oil change. That should get you a clean slate to start from to see if, and how quickly, the symptoms return.

If you live in a cold climate that is normal in the winter. I had the same thing on my 06 when I worked in Philly.
    Are you low on coolant?
If so look into it more.. But I highly doubt it..

Water entrainment from the air. I doubt, highly doubt, that is a head gasket.

definitely not "normal". I've had my truck in Jersey for 10 winters now and NEVER had that issue.

I cleaned it and did an oil change. I wonder if having the wrong viscosity of oil in there would do it? It got pretty cold here in Iowa and then warmed up again fairly quick for a couple of days. I noticed Walmart put 5-20 in there last oil change

I'm not saying thats the reason and I know Iowa probably has a colder average temp than Jersey, but I've never deviated from 5w-30....winter, spring, summer and fall. I think we had a full week last winter or the one before it that stayed in single or teen digits and summers that will have 90 degree temps for days on end.

The problem happens due to the filler neck being so tall and not vented.. Moisture in the crankcase gathers in the tube and cools.
There is no way to fix it..

My truck is similar every winter and I dont have a blownhead gasket. It's due to the short trips to work every week and can't evap the moisture.

I had the same thing on my 2014 when I used to just drive on the weekends, but not quite that bad. Once I took a different job and started driving it longer and more often, it went away. I would guess it's just condensation. That's pretty common with our trucks.

My truck will do this (though I've never seen it that bad) in winter. I live 7000ft up in the Rockies, so Its pretty damn cold here. I also live 0.5 miles from work, so the truck sees a lot of short trips. If i take the truck out on the highway and run it for 45 min or an hour all the buildup goes away.
