Looking for information on my stereo size, and cant find it on here.
I have a 2001 single cab, the stereo has CD player - factory.
I look for an aftermarket install kit, and it's only coming up with a single din kit.
I'm not sure if the factory stereo is 1.5 din or 2 din.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !

Most instal kits are to put a single in a double din location and fill the extra space. You dont need anything to put the right sized stereo in the right location.

Thank you. Wasn't sure if I'd need a cover plate for the new stereo, or not. Also wasn't sure if it's a true 2 din, or din and a half, as some MFG's like to do...

Here's a picture of my factory unit, a double DIN, with CD/Tape Player, if that helps. I opted to replace it with two single DIN units - a am/fm/cd receiver and a cb radio.
If I had it to do over, I might look at double DIN units with graphic display and maybe run a back-up camera through it. Then again, I like my cb in the dash. Choices, choices...:)

Yeah its a double din and installing a new one is easy. Just use the factory side plates and put them on the new double din deck and done. I just put a touch screen in my truck and took no time at all.

arifleman and timpall13, I thank you very much. The picture helped immensely.
Damn though... I just sold my CB. It was a Cobra 25LX, with the color changing display.
If Ida known i coulda fit it there, I mighta.

But, I too am hoping to install a double din touchscreen unit with GPS and backup camera.
That's why I wanted to be sure if it would fit. Thanks again !

I just bought a new double din to replace the single I had in there for 10+years. I didn't want touch screen or need backup camera (turn around :p) but Bluetooth was a requirement. Under 200 and bought speakers along with this (bought adapter plates for 6.5" from another site for <$20)

I was also thinking about the back up camera. Few years ago while looking for a tacoma I came across a few that already had the backup camera installed. Haven't really made up my mind to install one but when driving a rental I think they're pretty useful.

I installed a double din stereo a couple of months ago with a backup camera & love it! The rear camera is very useful when backing up. Now I just keep it on all the time. Really glad I got it.

Oh, have you checked out Crutchfield? They have all kinds of info on what & which stereo will fit in your specific truck.
