There was 1 TW member that posted that the dealer tried to accuse him of punching the hole. There have been several people that posted that their frame passed inspection (because the dealer didn't bang on it) and 2 months later, the owner banged on it and found a huge hole. Unfortunately, at that time, they were too late to qualify for a frame. So, if you choose not to bang on it, and it passes frame inspection, make sure you bang on it before your eligibility time runs out. With a 2008, that time could be coming up very soon.

Gotchya. I called dealership after I read your message and they can't tell me when the purchase date was to start the 12 year clock because they said that part of their computer system was down for the last 3 weeks...
I'll get back under it when I'm finished up work today and see if anything is hiding behind the big rust flakes. Thanks for the help guys

WOW! Computer down for 3 weeks? That's not saying much for that dealer. Join the Toyota owners thingy and you can punch in your vin and figure it out for yourself. Better get on it, because if your Taco was the very 1st '08 sold, you're already too late.

They called me back, said it's under coverage until 2 June 2020.

If you delay getting the inspection, I would get that in writing. It also wouldn't hurt to enter your VIN in the Toyota owners site and confirm for yourself. They could say, "We never told you that. Sorry, you're a week too late."

Yeah that's what I was thinking too when the lady called and told me. I got her to email it to me for that reason exactly.
