Is this a good choice for a lift kit?

If your going the full 3 inch you will need new UCA's. Some need it with 2.0 to 2.5 inches. Depends on the Tacoma I guess. What front shocks are you going with? And what rear shocks as well?

My buddy put a 3 inch rough country lift on his and he used stock UCAs but it's the cheaper lift and I dont know if it's a true 3 inch. The website said you could use stock shocks but I was thinking about the bilstein 5100s. I'm on a budget cause im in college and only working part time.

Look for someone selling aome 5100's or buy new if you can swing it. I got mine for 100 bucks for my 4runner.

So would this kit with some 5100s be a good quality lift? I don't want something cheap that's gonna cause problems.

I'll be in trails deer hunting. Nothing other than a few shallow mud holes and bumps.

I wheel with my billies, I wouldn't go jumping in them or anything and its stiff but not uncomfortable.

I don't know much about lifts. If I was to just go with a set of 5100s all the way around does that mean I could get up to 2.5 inches of lift without anything else since they adjust to 2.5 inches?

I ordered this exact kit from ToyTec for my 2015 DCSB TRD OR, and it arrived today actually.

    0430f0fec93bb7844a86edd87787f83a_fa92929731006f4b1c00b88cea7a5c76f42a248f.jpg

Kevin at ToyTec assured me it would be a decent quality lift for the price (better performance than puck spacer type) and it would align just fine with stock UCAs. We also talked about shock choice as I plan to leave the factory Bilsteins on with this kit. Kevin mentioned that the difference in down-travel between a 5100 and yellow/blue Bilstein would be marginal.

Post a picture once you get it installed. I'd like to see it. I was hoping maybe go with this kit with stock shocks until I can get the 5100s.

I think it'll be just fine with your plans with the truck. Getting 5100s would be even better.

Reread the link. Thought they were Eibach springs. If in a budget, stay under 3" until you can get UCA. I'm sure you'd still be happy.

I had 5100's set at 2.5 with my stock coils and it did fine. It also could be aligned alright. The truck will wander a little more on the freeways though. The wandering comes with any lift you put on without aftermarket UCA's.
That's what I went with when I wanted to lift my truck on a budget.

I'll be sure to post pics, but it won't be until 1/19 or so until I can get it installed.

They actually are just rebranded Eibach coils, but the 2.5" "heavy duty" 521600 instead of the 1.5" Eibach coils

Either way, ToyTec says they'll do fine UCAs or not

However, I am on the fence about going ahead and doing 5100s set at 0.0 with the Eibach 2.5" coils and 1/2" top plate spacers...

~2.5" in the front, nothing in the back, only the front provides lift by moving the coil perch.

My buddy's rough country lift looks like what people are calling a "spacer" lift. Has anyone ran a lift like this without issues? He seems to be happy with his. He uses it on trails with some ruts and bumps.
