So with the 5100s if I did a aal for the back would that be close to a 3 inch lift?

Probably because he's never tried anything else. If he's happy, good for him.

I'm trying to get the same height as him but more reliable lift.

I'm new to this site so this might be a dumb question but I can't find why the spacer lift is bad I see a lot of people that say no to them just wondering getting ready to do some mods on my first Toyota

From what I gathered the spacer lift is a lot rougher riding and causes a lot more stress on your suspension which can lead to parts breaking.

A lot of folks run spacer lifts without troubles and are happy with them. But the harder you wheel your truck, the less satisfying and more likely to break they are.

Conversely for not much more coin, you can get a better choice, especially if you're willing to do the install yourself and apply the money you save on install costs to better parts.

i couldn't disagree more with this post and i'll tell you exactly why... i bought and installed this exact lift just 3 weeks ago!
i bought 5100's last year and was unsatisfied soon after with the ride height and more importantly the ride with the stock springs being preloaded at 1.75". after considering going with an OME lift i contacted my toytec dealer and weighed the options. being i was confident the 5100's would ride better set at 0" there was no need to spend needlessly on new shocks and i decided this lift and TC uca's was what i was after.
i spent around 13 hours total installing everything (uca's then the front and rear lift) and the end result after was the alignment was completely satisfying!
many of these guys here seem to be under the impression that the springs that come with this lift are the 112-620 eibach springs which they are not. it's actually a 600 pound toytec spring so it rides a little softer. add to that, having the longer, non-preloaded springs creating the lift results in a better than stock ride.
as far as usability goes, where i live in it's currently -35 c f (-31 f) and the roads are frozen and rough. i'm an avid hunter and spend a great deal of time offroad and this lift is holding up fine.
i'll try to set up some photo's and measurements for you tomorrow.

If I read Taco Libre's reply correctly - he's installed those springs, along with 5100 shocks and Total Chaos UCAs as the complete set of lift components.

Which is more or less what many folks were recommending for you.

Awesome. Can't wait to see how it looks/rides. See if you can get a print off of the alignment results and whether it's in spec to settle the conjecture. Are you doing the top plate spacers and the coils?

Will do! Yep, I baby my Tacoma as for now so no wheeling for me...Once it get's a bit older I'll probably put a better suspension on it/no top plate spacer.

Bilstein 5100's set at .85, OME 885x coils w/ 1/2" top plate spacers, Total Chaos UCA's, Wheelers 1.5" HD 3 leaf progressive AAL w/ factory overload leaf, DT Pipe Bomb Ypipe, Vibrant resonator, Magnaflow pro series catback system, URD Short Throw Shift Kit, Debadged, BHLM, BTLM, 6000K BiXenon Headlights & Fogs.
Hey OP, things like this are tough because everyone has different preferences on ride quality. Some people can throw spacers and blocks under a 30k$ truck and be perfectly happy, and some arent satisfied until it has full fox coilovers. I can only comment on what I know, so heres what i got.

I went with the 5100's on all 4 corners as mentioned before, a very popular option on this site. Front adjustables set to 2.5" on stock coils and stock uca's. For the rear i went with the wheelers offroad 1.5" HD 3 leaf progressive Add a leafs. I also left in the factory overload leaf in the rear. They make that kit in HD and non HD. I got what i did because i tow alot. With this setup I got 2.5" in the front and about 2.25" from the rear. Paired with some 33's and im happy. I wanted the full 3" in the front but that extra 0.5" seems to open a whole new can of worms and $. New UCA's, and the possibility of driveline vibes. I have an old school alignment shop near my house that gave me a good quality alignment and ive had no issues with the stock uca's at that height. I cant comment on how my own truck rides but numerous people that have rode with me have commented on how it rides like a car and better than the typical "lifted truck". So far 1 year and 30,000 miles ive had no issues, granted i dont wheel it hard, i just get to fishing spot and trail ride.

Heres a pic to see how it sits

OP, to piggyback off this If I were to start from scratch I would probably just buy the Bilstein package deal Headstrongoff-road offers for around $580...Looks like I will be spending a little over $600 for essentially the same set up. Only difference is I'm spacing out my purchases due to funds. Bought the Toytec 3" Best seller for $300 and will be purchasing the (4)Bilstein 5100's for $315 later down the road. As mentioned, good luck with whatever you buy.

All the back and forth got into my head overnight, and I went ahead and ordered 5100's for the front ONLY, from Wheelers Off Road ($170 right now). I figure the rear is easy enough to change out later and less influential on the ride comfort anyway.

My budget lift will consist of:

    FRONT:
    --Bilstein 5100 (BIL BE5-C477-T1) Set to 0.0"
--ToyTec Eibach Lift Coils (521600, 2.5")
    --ToyTec 1/2" Top-Plate Spacer
    --ToyTec Diff Drop

    REAR:
    --1.5-2.0" Add A Leaf's from ToyTec
--OEM Bilstein yellow/blue HD shocks (for now)

    Total Cost: ~$550 plus install

Why'd you have to tell me they were on that site for $170 haha...I want them now. Are you sure they are in stock and not back-ordered?

And yeah they're in stock, confirmed with Josh at Wheelers, he said they had plenty and that they would ship today.

    Stock for now
I wouldn't put longer/stiffer coil springs on a six year old set of stock Bilteins - they're going be worn out anyway and will just blow up on you. You can pick up a set of four 5100s from Toytec for $400 with the 5% TW discount code: 112710. That applies to your entire purchase, actually.

Install the lift yourself and save the money there - but don't do the job twice because you cheaped out on shocks.
