Is this a good enough all-round impact wrench for working on Tacomas?

Nothing wrong with the Ryobi line but it's on the lower end. Will get the job done mostly for occasional use. 160lb/ft isn't much though, if you live somewhere with rust it's gonna need more oomph than that at times.

I live in the heart of salt & rust country. Milwaukee FUEL 1/2" has replaced my air impact for all but the nastiest, most rusted, high torque stuff. But those occasions are few & far between and usually involve busting out the hot wrench too.

Personally I like the Ridgid better than Ryobi. They have moved up in the world past few years.
Dewalt is okay I guess if you like yellow, or buy Craftsman if you like red since they're the same thing underneath (mostly).
Makita are fine but I dislike their batteries and for the same cost Milwaukee whoops them anyways.

What's the minimum torque (ft lb) would you go for for someone that wants to do ALL of their own maintenance and the truck is a first gen?

There is a discount site Direct Tools Outlet. It's the manufacturers website where they sell blems, remanufactured, and discontinued stuff. They sell Ryobi and Ridgid (and some others that fall under the parent company). I've bought a few things from the site. A line trimmer I bought was defective, but everything else was fine. I opted to fix the trimmer instead of returning it because I needed it and I was not near much civilization.

I recommend just using hand tools. Impacts and electric ratchets don't give you a feel for what you're doing. Impacts are just a way to screw up something faster.
