I was under the hood the other day and thought I'd finally ask y'all: is this a mounting plate for some engine component my truck didn't come with?

    I have a 2021 Off Road, 6-speed manual.

To my untrained eye, it certainly looks like something can bolt down there, but I can't think of what it might be.

It’s for an ARB air compressor if you have the Off-Road, it’s for this goofy looking thing if you have a Sport :burp:

As I have a sport I'm curious if you know what that goofy looking thing is... I'm curious if I would rather have had a air compressor, lol.

I think it's got to do with the brake system. Not sure why the Sport needs it and the OR doesn't though.

    Part of the ABS brakes.
I think it is kind of important, if you remove it have a few cameras set up for the test drive.

It's for the ABS unit for models with an 'old school' vacuum brake booster. Your off road has it built into the brake booster which allows for the modes you select via that overhead rotary knob.

The Sport uses an conventional style vacuum brake booster, the Off Road has some electric magic thing instead.

Clarifying question: are you suggesting it's a good mounting location for an ARB, or that's it's actually INTENDED for that purpose?

That's not what it was designed for, I've seen on here where people mounted the compressor there

Ah, and since mine's a manual (and, therefore, no overhead knob), that's why it's empty?

Thanks... I just didn't want to assume and be looking for "that" ARB product!

They do make a bracket to mount there for an air compressor, I think CBI made one.

You can still mount a compressor there on a Sport. Slee Off-road makes a bracket. With the off-road there is room beneath the compressor to mount a small air tank.

It’s a brake booster. The Pro and OR have an electronic brake booster so they don’t have something there
