Ha ha officer following too close didn't have time to react.

 

I was most impressed with the Tacoma drivers quick thinking and even quicker reaction time.

Is that a shot of the fire wall of the cruiser at the end of this video? and an airbag? Couldn't help but notice what looks like a brake reservoir there.

That Tacoma owner has some GOOD defensive driving skills. That, plus he sits high and wasn't tailgating the guy in front of him.

I can't fathom the reason for going left.

 

x2 on the officer not following too close...plus the taco is higher off the ground, obstructing the view of whats ahead even more. honestly the drunk guy was going pretty fast...the amount of reaction time was close to nothing and I don't think even if he tried turning right it would have done anything. & btw im usually not one to back up police officers but there was nothing at all the officer did wrong imho.

 

To me it looks like the officer committed to the left turn because the drunk driver appeared to be turning to the Cops right, then the drunk corrected, but the cop had already committed to going left and it was really too late to do anything about it at that point im sure. If you watch close the drunk is veering to the officers right hand side when the officer decides to go to the left and try to avoid the head on.

At least on my monitor, thats how it looks

 

Looked like the driver of the Tacoma was feeling the V-6 power from the light, and seemed to get up to the speed limit quickly and the cop kept up and was probably running his plates when he got wacked

 

Turning right would put the driver door as the prime target which could lead to more injury than a head on.. Doesn't anyone watch/participate in Demolition Derbys?

 

Just another case of being at the wrong place wrong time. Case solved.

 

Holy crap....Tacoma lucked out with his vehicle placement on a busy street like that. I'm betting the cop was side-by-side with that previous car. I'll watch again, but at first view, the speeds looked about right to where the cop was boxed in on the right.
