Yes and yes. The most important thing here is that you had the sense to ask before you bought, instead of having them do the work then asking if you got taken.

If you insist on using a dealer for services over a quality independent shop, you need to find another dealer.

 Ahh that thread. In all seriousness though, what happened to the times where the prices were fair for services and it was only what you really needed? I remember my parents going in for services and not getting screwed over all the time. It's sad now how its all about the dollar. Some of the small guys are just as bad. I went to a place I used to work while in high school, carwash that was also a small shop that did basic stuff, to get my inspection done. While I was there one of the techs came back for someone else's car with air filter and cabin air filter saying they needed to be replaced. Costed right around $95 just for the two filters and the person said yes......because they told her the cabin filter would help her breath better while driving. That's all it took to make that money.

On this site under 2nd gen mods tips and more there is an excellent how-to write up on cleaning the throttle body. Worth a look at.
Good luck with the new truck.

Just a dealer ploy to take some extra money out of your pocket. When I took mine in for the free oil changes I told them when I handed the keys over not to bother me with any extra because if anything else is needed I will take care of it. I got tired of the extra time they would spend pulling the filters and then bringing them to me. I am there for a free oil change and to just do it and get me out of there.

Free oil changes are a loss leader to get you in .

Once there all kind of service suggestions can be made.

I know it is hard for some to believe but some people just get in a drive the free oil changes are geared for them.
