So this past weekend, everyone was snowed in. I was one of the few out and about besides the snow plows. Went over to a friends to go sledding and his neighborhood wasn't touched yet with plows and the snow was so deep I couldn't get into his neighborhood. We went sledding and came back and there was a snow plow about 100 feet on their road and stuck. It was an F350 with a plow and a sand spreader in the back. Being the nice guy that I am and seeing as how I was the only truck around that was dug out I offered to try to pull him out. Obviously, I was a little out matched weight wise, but I DID yank him out.... And in the process the chain pulled right through the chain hooks on my trailer hitch.image.jpg
Can that be fixed?image.jpgWhat it's supposed to look like.

I would say NO. I wouldn't trust a repair on something like that. It can be replaced, and should be.

yanking something heavy like that, I might check on the frame while that hitch is being replaced..just a little once over to see if anything seems out of wack, if you indeed "yanked" on it like you say...

Total props though man yanking people out can be hard sometimes but towing out something weighing 2-3 times your size = amazing

I would check out a local junkyard and see if you could get one there.

Yeah. That's not a recovery point. A welder should be able to fix it for a few bucks.

Gives an idea how it would hold up to safety chains if a significant load you were towing dropped off.

Not so well I'd guess. 'Cause that would be a real 'jerk' too.

Good for you to get him out..........

Why would you hookup for a recovery with the safety chain cut slots?

    Of course that is fixable.

I good welder/technician can heat and shape it right back to normal; then weld it, actually better than it was.

Why in the world would you hook a tow chain to that, trailer safety chain, attaching point? Well I guess you learned something.
