Got my front and rear differential fluids changed for the first time at 45k from a local but reputable shop here in socal, first time ive been to this shop too.

My ocd got the better of me and made me want to check if they actually changed and torqued everything to spec.

I used a syringe to pull some diff fluid from the front diff and noticed it to be more foggy compared to my rears. According to the shop they used Liquid Moly 22090. The rears look super clean, like straight from a pack of valvoline i deliberately opened to compare.

What do you guys think? You think the fronts have been changed? Ive never used liquid moly before so idk what it looks like new?

Definitely new. You did all this work to check it, you might as well have changed it yourself! Lol

Haha i know right? I was planning on doing it myself in like a week or so but they gave a killer deal i couldn't pass up which included an oil change and alignment, especially since the truck was up on a machine already i couldnt pass it up haha.

Good for you checking. Ultimately it's your responsibility, trust no one.

Thats reassuring, thank you! Do gear oils generally differ on their color and how it looks from brand to brand and viscosity ?

Generally new gear oil color is similar, viscosity depends on the exact product purchased. Several different choices to make.

In the diff the oil will get cloudy before it gets dark.
