Picked this up from a friend for $20. Anyway to tell whether it’s a legit Hi-Lift, or a chinesium clone? It’s been repainted.

    Can I powdercoat it?43BFB6E7-B9D0-4946-A005-FD7916164033.jpg

    EDIT: It's a Harbor Freight.

As long as there is no plastic, powder coating should not be an issue. Power coating gets baked on at about 425 degrees.

I was concerned more about it interfering with anything, but being that it’s a harbor freight unit, I don’t think it’s worth powdercoat.

I wouldn't powdercoat it regardless; there are some close tolerances in the actual lifting portion and powdercoat can be fairly thick at times. If it gets too fugly, hit it with some rattle-can black.

I wouldn't risk powder coating a hi-lift or any 'farm jack' like it. They can be very finicky especially if dirt gets in the spring (?) mechanism that moves with the lever.

Make sure you spray it good with a dry lube PTFE spray before every use, I've seen one drop a truck before that was never oiled and it's not pretty

Yeah don’t do what my buddy did and bedline it. Ruined that shit right away.

Paint it neon pink and call it Sally. It's a functional farm jack for $20. At that price, as long as it doesn't cause more damage than it's worth, rock on...

Exactly. If it were a real high lift I might try to protect it. But for 20 bucks, it’ll get cleaned, oiled, and hopefully some trail testing.
