Is this how a 16TRD OffRoad should look? (TRD wheels, BFGs, tint, black grille, tailgate letters.)

Is this how a new Tacoma should look??

  1. Yes. New trucks seem boring. Tires are too small, rims are boring, etc.

Just some 35% tint to match the rears and some 285/70/17 Falkens…
First pic is brand new, all stock (boring) . I added 16x7.5 TRD wheels, BFG 265/75/16 All Terrain TKO2 tires, tint, grille was painted, and just today I added tailgate letters that I got off of EBay. All I need now are my rain guards on the windows, and my WeatherTech digital floormats and she is alllllll done.

Left a little bit of chrome to contrast the black grille. An all-chrome grille looks like a truck with braces. Lol
TacoSide.jpgTRD wheels and BFG 265/75/16 tires make a huge difference.

Toyota: Why wasn't the tailgate this way from the factory???

I prefer the stock rims, but that is just me. Both versions look good.

The OEM versions are decent rims, but 7" wide doesn't cut it for a TRD OffRoad truck. Plus I hate having a truck that looks like every one else's truck...

Once everybody buys their black rims, and they all look like "Everybody else's " truck, mine will stand out. And since I prefer the stock rims, I live in a Perfect Win/Win.

I debadged it, had to work a whole bunch and put on a K&N in time to deploy. Now my wife controls the money and hopefully I have enough when I get back to get her washed. Soooo... mods are in progress?
Given the sheer volume of tacos driven around the world I would say this is highly unlikely. While we may all focus on the mod tacos with their (yes most commonly) black wheels, there are BY FAR more stock tacos rolling around than any other. Win/win for sure, those OEM wheels look good, but they will never be outside of the norm.

Haha....yeah I wanted to leave just a small amount of chrome. Matches the Tacoma door emblems. I saw a few trucks with all blacked out grilles and it kinda looked like they bought a $4 can of spray paint and painted the grille on their $40K truck. Lol

The black adds a nice contrast on white trucks, but I prefer the monochromatic look on the tailgate of my Magnetic Gray truck. I also don't think you would want to put white letters on the tailgate of a black truck. It would look cheap. Detailing is a case-by-case thing.

The white portion of the TRD logo we are referring to only has white in a small portion. It looks very sharp. Black white and red. Simple. You could look at the emblem in question earlier in this thread, I have received nothing but compliments on it.

Yeah, agreed. I'd say it looks better on the white, silver, red, and quicksand. The darker models, not so much...
