Hey, everyone, so this is linked to my previous thread about the "easiest way to remove an intake camshaft." This is the reason why. When I was pulling the valves to be machined I accidentally cracked part of one of the lifters, and I was wondering if it is safe to run like this. I cracked about 1/4 of the rim counting the machined notch.

I would rather not have to go through the process of stripping the front of the motor down to the crank to remove the timing belt just to replace it if I don't need to. I did get the Tacoma for its legendary reliability though, so if it is something that will severely jeopardize that then of course I will concede. I was just wonder what people with way more knowledge and experience with these vehicles think.

Thank you guys for everything I have already learned from you. I learned tons lurking before making an account haha.

Yeah I was a little afraid of it getting ejected at high speeds too and ruining the cam lobe :(

Yep. At high RPM there is a chance of the shim becoming a free agent.

So I potentially have just created a random VVT mod! You don't know when or if it's gonna happen, but when it does, it will certainly affect the valve timing

Thank you guys for your responses. As much as I didn't want to do all that extra stuff to remove the timing belt, I suppose it is unavoidable. :(

Might do more than a cam lobe honestly.

    I would change it
