From another user: I installed the front half of my new suspension lift last night and my results were not what I expected. In got 4 inches of lift out of my new coilovers, i bought them pre-assembled and set at 0. Many people are saying their same setup is giving them 2-2.5 inches of lift. Is it normal for new lifts to be this high at the begging? I known it Will settle some but 1.5 inches?? Im freaking out quite a bit, thanks

They were brand new? I got 2.5" on my DCLB. I would imagine that you would get a bit more and especially because they are new. Give it a bit to settle. No top plate spacers right? Who did you buy from and who preassembled them?

I'd have it aligned for sure and then again in a few weeks. Keep an eye on your measurements, I'm sure it will settle down to around 2.5"- 2.75"

I'm sure headstrong would have preassembled them correctly. And they are 885x

I believe there was someone not hat long ago with the same complaint. Pretty sure it settled. Get the Firestone $180 lifetime alignment. That way you can go back 2-3 times as it settles

Yeah, awesome deal! You could go everyday for the life of your truck!! Haha
it pays for itself when you install a new suspension just because of the settling. It will be 2-3 alignments for settling depending on how much you drive and are worried about your tires.
Don't worry, it will definitely settle I'm sure of it.

Is that the rcd bilstein shocks. U may have ordered the wrong shocks. I think I see a rcd sticker on the shock.

hey OP, this thread is full of crap for responses mostly. it seems ppl have a hard time reading your straight forward post and just reply with junk. just go drive it around the block a few times, it will settle down a bit, then break in you get some miles on there.

Wait you are a prerunner . I am too however double cab.. I have 885x but on ome shocks. and I got 4 inches as well.. when from 21 to 25 hub to fender.. my question is look at the 5100s under spring perch.. how many thin groove lines can you count or take a picture of it.. anyway I have noticed being 2x4 we are lighter up front.. but just check everything first to confirm

Coming from a 2007, your old springs may have been really weak and low. You might be starting from an inch or so below what new stock spring would have put you at. That would make it look like you're getting more lift than expected.

I know my stock springs were pretty weak and had sagged before I finally removed them.

Also, you can look for part numbers marked on parts (not the invoice, actually on the parts) and then call up Headstrong next week to ask them to confirm if those are the correct parts. Shipping error is possible.

34 inch??? sounds like you measured ground to fender. For future reference, measure hub (center of rim) to fender so tires does not effect measurement. At any rate, my lift was supposed to be 2.5 in and it was around 4 inches until i drove it around a few miles and hit some speed bumps. GL!

This might sound like a dumb thought but. Please look at your part numbers on the shock. That front looks like it is a RCD shock. It could be the shock that goes with the RCD 3-4" lift set. That white/silver label is the same as my rear RCD b110 bilsteins 3-4" lift shocks. Which would make it a 3-4" ...in the range of your numbers. Once you get the part numbers Google it and tell us what the extended vs colasped numbers are.

Edit: didn't realize a few other post they are RCD as well. I am willing to bet that shock tube is extended a few more inches. Bet you had a hell of a time putting those with 885s in. And that wont settle much. Check your cv angles/boots. Bet they are rubbing.

    There's a solid response^

First off the install looks good from the pics, so its not the preassembly.

I think your issue is what totmacher described above, your old coils were sagged and now you have new coils. Also your truck weighs about 240 lbs less than a 4x4 so I would expect a little more lift from that, but not much.

For those who are unaware, the RCD branded 5100 Bilstiens and Standard 5100 Bilstiens are the exact same shock. Don't believe me call and ask RCD. Still don't believe me I have a photo I can share with the two side by side. So this in not a factor.

Oh and any new 885 coil is going to be the 885X, OME replaced the 885s with the 885x coils.

So many people just make matters worse. Why make assumptions and get this guy freaked out when you clearly don't know what you are talking about. Toytec, Wheelers, Downsouth and other comps sell the RCD branded ones as well, they are the same and this has been discussed a million times.
