I had my truck in for an oil change last week and looked at a few 22s on the lot. None of them had that issue.

If my front end looked like that after spending 40k I would be pretty upset.

I'm not doubting that you didn't notice it on any of them, but are you sure they didn't have it? OP's post shows it in the best possible conditions to make it visible... bright light, reflecting the sky, super close, etc. On a sunny day I could replicate that photo with mine, but from 6 feet away on a cloudy day you'd never be able to tell there was a difference.

Not normal. I have a 2019 Barcelona Red Taco and you cannot see any difference between the paint on the plastic and metal.

The metal to plastic does look different on all of them. Its the first thing I noticed about the truck and I went to the lot and they all were like that. And this was a lot I didn't buy the truck from. So, there is a difference between the painted plastic and painted metal. However, idk if yours is better or worse than most

Id say pass on it. Someting is wrong. The wheel lip looks like the front bumper cover as well and the alignment is off. I suspect a lot boy whacked something and the dealership did a quicky repair on it. Subaru pulled that on my wife a few years ago when she went to pick up our new car and it was damaged on the lot before we picked it up. She didnt catch it and I had a 3 month battle with them to replace the car. My Barcelona Red 17 Tacoma doesnt look like that.

On no car that I own or have ever owned, Tacoma included, has there been any difference in paint color, tone or texture between plastic or metal parts, unless we're talking intentionally textured plastics, but this is never the case....and I am ocd about paint and detailing my cars. There is something wrong with that trucks bumper cover.

In OPs photos this isn't like "hey I used this macro lens/microscope and I see a slight difference in the surface" this is "I can see this across a parking lot" difference. That bumper covers paint job is f'ed.

I get the texture part, but is the sheen completely different.

That looks like the bumper was damaged and repainted. The gap is not straight as well.

I also picked up a 2022 Barcelona Red and noticed the color was a little off. I thought the something happened in transit as the delivery disappeared for two days? Prior to reaching the dealership.

I would ask the dealer if they had the bumper repaired. I used to work for a company who did bumper spray repairs. They would match the color and put a couple coats and then a clear coat. Sometimes it came out dull depending on the temp outside and how experienced the technician is. I work at dealers all the time and cars do get dinged dented and scratched. Very rare but it happens

    Here’s my 2022. I’ve seen enough similar that it doesn’t concern me.9F365F5B-71D5-4928-A942-41633F3A4148.jpg

Yup, my 2021 DGM is the same. Scared me at first until I went to the lot and saw all of them.

    Nothing major yet.
Actually taking a look at my truck and it’s worse than I originally thought. It’s not half as bad in person as in picture. This could be because the lighting and my phones camera.

(If anyone wanted to know this was taken with a IPhone 13 pro max)

it’s more of a texture difference than color difference. I don’t think it has anything to do with the paint, but it’s more the plastic.
