Is this normal? Rapid slow down when foot off gas

Test driving for my first Tacoma (finally, hopefully!) and checked out a 2019 (4 cyl 2wd today, 82K miles if that matters)

I only did some city driving staying under 45. It felt to me like when I let my foot off the gas, after a few seconds it then slowed down quite rapidly. Perhaps downshifting though I did not feel a change in the rpms or anything. It wasn't too alarming, but I expected to coast and this felt like such a drop in speed that I would have to stay on the gas much more than I am used to. But maybe that is normal.

I don't recall feeling this on the other Tacomas I've driven (though they were 6 cyl). Is this normal/cause for concern? I was going to take it in for a basic inspection if I feel good about the truck (and price) but figured I'd see what the folks on here have to say. Thanks so much in advance

Nope it doesn't sound normal. Deceleration shouldn't be that different between the I4 or V6 3rd gen.

    Go test drive another.

Maybe a brake piston is stuck? Was the truck in the rust belt area?

If you are test driving an Automatic, make sure it is in “D” and not S mode. S mode will limit the highest gear the Auto can shift to.
