My trail gear sliders were the same way, I had to pound the pinch weld flat and I had the gap in the rear. Mine are welded on vertical for 8yrs now and no problems so don't worry about what direction you weld them. If I could do it all over I would have went bolt on. The sliders are a rusty mess and I'm dreadding having to cut them off and replace them.

why would you need to cut off your sliders and replce them cause of rust?

unless the sliders have been on for years and no paint and the rust is eating through the metal.

sand, cover side of truck with card board, and re-paint. easy as that.

lets see some pics of these rusted sliders

You live in arizona so your opinion is null and void.

They have been on a DD truck, that resides in an area with an average humidity of 70% and that has massive ammounts of roadsalt spalshed on them for 5months out of the year since 2005. Parts will rust in my garage if i dont have them painted, or dipped in oil! I dont have any good pics, look at the link in my sig there may be one in there. The paint process is as easy as you say, provided you can reach 100% of the slider (i cannot they are tight to the body) so the rusts spreads like wildfire.

Edit heres a pic, this is one of the nicer parts. That pic is 3 years old.

I'm late into this convoy but have a quick question . I'm having the same issue with the end facing the rear of the truck not flush with the frame on my all pro sliders. It's about a 1/4 " gap . Bolt on BTW . Thanks in advance for any tips
