I saw that my truck had the t-taps used when I went to install my @mattgecko bed lights. I think it was the result of the optional bed LEDs that I added to the truck when ordering at the dealer. Can only assume this was something that happened at port where the tonneau cover was installed.

 

You should see the kluge of wiring the dealer installed for the anti theft system. Hardware store butt splices crimped with pliers and 1/2 dozen T taps. All behind the drivers left kick panel. Grrrrr.

 

Absolutely not factory. Someone screwed with it before you got it.

 

Mine flashed for a few seconds and then went solid. Pulled it out this morning. Send me your address, you can have it.

Let me guess, you guys have (or had) a dealer badge stuck to the rear end of your trucks too, right?

 

No reply so it’s yours. I’ll get it sent out Friday on my day off.

 

Every dealer does that garbage. As soon as I get home, the plate bracket and stickers come off from the dealer and we never return.

 

Mine doesn’t, guess why? It’s one of the first questions I ask the sales person.

 

Always a request i have when buying, and to not drill the front bumper for plates

 

@Jart76 … Thanx for posting the pic. I am installing one of these and have a favour to ask of you.

When I opened the wire bundle, I found 3 purple wires. they have stripes.....Red/Black/White.

Would you mind checking yours again to see what stripe is on your purple used..? Oh, and what yr. is your truck. I've got a 2016.

I would really appreciate it if not too much trouble.

 

@caribe makaira usually pops up with some pretty decent wiring diagrams - maybe he has something on this for you?

 

@over60 sorry that picture is the best I can do for you. I removed it and taped the loom back up.

 

It could be worse. I pulled out my left hand switch panel to add my ditch light switch too and found a crumbled up spiderweb of T-taps they used for the alarm install the truck came with. Pretty disappointing to see on a brand new truck.

 

Go ask the Dealer you bought the truck from.

 

ill bet it was sold and returned before titled or within the time for changing your mind.....it definitely has been tampered with by someone.....

 

that's OK man.... I'll try to get another way. Maybe if I can find an electrical diagram....

Hey @MESO … Thanx again for helping me the other day, to tear the dash off to install a switch...

Hate to ask for help again, BUT I've been trying everything to find out what wire provides the power to the 3rd brake light.

There are 3 purple wires in the harness and I apparently have to attach to 1 of them. They have stripes...Red/Black/White.

Any chance you have a diagram that tells that...?

Move the sleeve back a bit, there was cross-dyeing. The colors are purple/green/white w/black stripe.
