Looks like mine. I'm going to ask to have them repaint it. We'll see.

Ya, that's not right either. There is no reflection off the lower part.

Some years back my Camry was hit. While getting it repair in a similar spot to yours, I popped by the shop to check it out. They were close to being done, but not quite. It looked like those two panels look. Similar color, different texture. For sure was damaged at some point before being handed off to you and was poorly fixed.

Hope the dealership owns up to it! You could go compare with a couple of other Tacomas on the lot (if you can find any ).

EDIT: After reading some comments and looking a little closer, it might be some type of film. I have a clear bra in the same spot on mine but it does not look like that at all (but it's white). I would just ask first, and not try to scrape/peel anything off before confirming with dealership. Because then they will blame you...

Look for a border on the protective film. That's not paint.

I can’t speak to whether or not it’s a protective layer, but my paint matches exactly. I know, not black, but just giving another example.

'21 Army Green Offroad is the same texture wise. No metallic in AG so I'm not very worried about it. Wonder if it has something to do with supply chain issues. Maybe the base model SR/fleet bumper shell that they're slapping color on to get trucks off the line.

My truck was built in Mexico if anyone thinks that could be a contributing factor.

My black 2nd gen was like that, although it didnt bother me. I believe it’s a different paint mixture which makes it more rugged since the front gets hit with road debris. It was great even cause i could go to town on bug splatters and not worry about swirls.

I was wondering if those bumpers are different. The painted portion of the bumper lip looks like it matches the metalic black on the rest of the truck.

Odds are you will eventually start modding it being on here…so just chop it now and put an aftermarket high clearance front bumper on. Save yourself the grief of fighting a dealership.

That paint on the bumper is made more flexible but it should still match the rest of the truck better.

I know they do it on purpose on the lower portions of the body but that doesn't look normal. My bumpers don't have it that way.

Looks like you got a friday build.

If that is a fuck up there is no way it would have passed a final inspection at the factory unless maybe it was a GM product

Some bumpers on some models are a textured plastic that is then painted. Nothing wrong with the paint at all.

Here is mine. The only difference is the slight texture on the bumper.

It looks like garbage in that first pic, I would definitely take it back.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
Lots of the Taco bumpers are like this. My white '21 is similar in that it's a different finish texture but it appears a little bit less textured than OP's. I attributed it to the different material being painted. Paint lays differently on that flexible plastic and its reflective properties are not the same as a body panel.

Our last car was a very similar color to the Toyota Blizzard Pearl and depending what angle the sun hit it, you would swear it was a different color than the body, then you'd step 3 feet to the side and it was a perfect match. IT's weird shit. The OP's does look a bit more textured than most, though. Have it laminated with a 3M gloss and it will probably look smooth and be extra protected.
