    ive been reading into this and asking around about doing this for a while, ive been wanting to see how much or even if it is possible to convert my 04 DC into a 5 speed manual???? i know that it will take some work but thats fine by me. i just want to see if it IS in fact possible and about how much it will cost???

    Yes it is. It will cost more time and money than what it is worth.

    You will need
    1. Complete manual trans (clutch plate, pressure plate etc.)
    2. ECU from a standard vehicle with same options
    3. Pedal assembly (all the mounting hardware)
    4. Clutch cylinder
    5. Clutch fluid reservior
    6. Possible new tranny mount
    7. A new wiring harness ( I believe)
    8. A new instrument panel (for tach-probably not necessary but recommended)
    9. You may need a new drive shaft due to length (not 100% sure of this)
    There may be more also. There are fitment issues to analyze. Hole locations......

    Not as many as the 98..

    People claim you will need a new ecu and wiring harness, but that is false. You can make it work without one. Also, you will need a new driveshaft.

    This is A LOT of work, and i contemplated it, but decided against it and went with a built IPT transmission.

    Yes, by the time you are done, it would cost more than to have just purchased it with the manual tranny.

    You will need a new ECU if you don't want the CEL lit up 24/7

    The only electrical wiring going to the manual trans is the speed sensor, and that can be wired into the existing harness. The truck will drive regardless of whether there is a speed sensor or not.
