instead of filling my windshield fluid, toyota tech left the cap open. The reason i opened the hood in the first place was because i heard some flapping inside and it was because they didn't secure the plastic engine cover correctly so it would move while driving. 28 point check my butt.

I wonder how their wives react when their husbands out-period them.

Looks like a careless tech(?) spilled a little fluid and the road dust and grime just accumulated in those areas where the liquid was.

I'll clean it up and re-check before the next service date.

My truck was at the dealership for 7 days and they didn't bother doing the service interval even though it hit 10k miles while it was in their hands. The service light turned on while driving home. They're the best.

That reservoir cap is filthy, and the way the dirt flows over the side right near it and then is all over that seam/bump along the outside makes me pretty sure that's the exactly what happened.

I'd hit it with some Simple Green, let it marinate for 5 minutes and then rinse it off. Might hit the cap with a rag.

    That's actually fairly comical.

I wonder though, if that was the exact scenario at all dealerships, how many would proactively service the truck.

I have a feeling it'd be very few.

And I totally agree on the men period comments.

I bust balls with the best of them and say what I think when I think it, but of all the forums I've ever been on, this one has the most self conscious purse holders by far. And some are married! Proud wives I'm sure.

More than likely, but I'm assuming it's because of the high volume. This dealership is centrally located in my city. Maybe I should find one in the outskirts.

Since that's the case.. I've used it for about a decade on dried bugs too. Spray it on, let it soak and soften the bodies on windshields and bumpers/grills. Spray it off with a garden hose.

Usually any clingers that remain fall right off with a second soak.

I was washing a Peterbilt this way, since it saved time on a ladder or standing on the tire to reach bugs by hand. Then a quick hand wash and you're good to go without much elbow grease needed.

Ha, well I'm pretty accustomed to high school locker room etiquette so I try not to get butthurt about anything.

    Try it.

Frees up time to clean the rest of the truck while the windshield soaks.
