That was my concern and the 90k mile service. I asked the dealer and they've been pretty helpful. She said the previous owner told them he maintained it and had the 90k mile service and timing belt done.

It's just hard for me to believe that but maybe it's the truth. Is there anyway to tell?

Mine looks the same. I would like to put some type of protectant coating on it though. Line-X or something like it.

If it was done at Toyota then there would be a record of it. Go to the Toyota owners website and punch in the VIN # and it will give you the break down of all the work that was done on it.

You living in New Mexico helps a lot from having severe frame rot issues.

OK thanks, I'll try that. If it was done, I don't think it was done at a Toyota dealer because its not showing on the carfax. Carfax only shows that he registered it every year.

purchased my truck and was told that the timing belt was done by PO. didnt trust the dealer on that issue since he didnt have proof that it was completed so i went a head and had it done. toyota dealer i took it to said it was the original belt and nothing was done on it. had everything changed out on it now i have no worries. like mentioned above, if the tacoma has a sticker on the timing cover or if your able to get the vin and check it to see if toyota did the timing belt.

the frame on that truck looks really clean as far as rust goes, i wouldnt hesitate buying it depending on the price. mileage is good also

Mine is on the fan shroud upper left hand corner. My buddy works for Toyota and that's where he put it.

Yeah definitely a pro for living in a dry climate. Seems like the ones I've shopped for on the east coast have more severe frame issues.

I would pick that truck up before someone else does. That one has all the goodies and is a DC.

OK thanks, that's helpful and probably the same approach I'll take.

Their price is 15,990 so tell me what you guys think now.

By the way, they won't move on price as they have gotten a ton of interest and calls on it already. Basically, if I decide to pass on it, it will be gone. But I at least have a refundable deposit and first choice if I want it or not

I paid $16.9K but I specifically wanted a 2001-2004 blk ext cab 4wd v6 5 Speed under 100K and after a year of looking, I found it down the street from my house. Best vehicle I ever owned. Well worth the money to me. I don't regret a single day in it.

For 16, your region that's about right. Doesn't get better than that.

Sorry if I missed it, what year is the Tacoma? I like how the bed has been coated to protect it.

People like you that are having their frame replaced, with a 13 year old truck will be a life long Toyota buyer for sure.
