Hi, just bought my 2006 Tacoma Prerunner. I've read about Tacoma Tick and I'm pretty sure this is it but I want to be sure. The video is the truck idling, sometimes it's louder, sometimes quieter. Also happens when the truck is 'working hard' like accelerating down the highway or up a hill.
    Any thoughts?

No hydraulic lifters on a 4.0, it has solid buckets with shims to set valve clearance.

Can't say I've ever really noticed it but I have a Magnaflow catback on it, the 4.0 is inherently noisy compared to some other engines but they are pretty robust. A tick only on acceleration could possibly be an exhaust leak at one of the manifolds but those are usually worse on a cold start and get quieter as the engnine warms up.
