Yeah the dealer tricked it all out and thinks they're gonna get all the money out of it that they put into it for aftermarket doo-dads. Yeah right!

You'd think they'd at least throw in some Wet Okoles, a set of Weathertechs, and a jar of vaseline for that price!

NO! That being said, it's not a "no-haggle" price as it has the "make-offer" tab.

It is very clear that you are all unlikely to be in business.

Try doing that job right including taking the truck apart, installing the parts correctly including realigning the suspension, while paying a technician, the employer part of the taxes, business expenses and making a profit so you can do the next one an not close the doors.

You may not be willing to pay the price for the truck, but the cost to do that job and stand behind the work is what it is. Not everyone wants to do those things on thier own. There is a market for it, I am sure. If you think you can do it cheaper and LEGALLY I encourage you to spend the half a million to set up your own shop and prove it.

    With all due respect

I agree as Time is Money. $$$ is to be made but come on . . .

How is it a Rock Crawler when it has N-Fab Step Bars on it?
Thats doing it right? You're sending Average Joe out there thinking he can Wreck Trails to only find those N-Fabs will get him into a huge trouble. $46K after all fees is a ton of $$$.

I do think the TACO looks very Nice. However its Over Priced and I'd expect a much "HEALTHIER" Suspension @ that price.

You do have a point as there are people out there that don't know JACK about their own Trucks. I know Northridge TOYOTA does custom mods for Tundras, TACOS, and FJ's. However they charge an arm and a leg. You can't get very far with 5K from them.

I wouldn't call that much of a business. If it is, i suspect the seller will not be in business much longer. That is ridiculous pricing! There is no demand for a Tacoma that has over $10,000 of labor included. (none that I know of)

There is a market for off-the-shelf mall crawlers, it's just a relatively small one. Fortunately this group only has to sell a couple of them at a time to keep going.

Having said that, if I were a part of that market, I would be very wary of this truck because they claim things that just aren't true (4-wheel disc brakes) and list all the standard features of a TRD package as if they put them on the truck. Shady...

Regarding what stealers do... they live up to the 'sucker born every minute' - kinda like all the other 'pack job' items they sell. If they really made a rock crawler version like half of the peoples rides here, it would be priced at $60k and for that cash the people here could do the monster rock ride. If it was done at the factory they may be able to do it for $50-60. I think of the M versions of Bimmers and the AMG versions of Mercs - they do a very nice factory mod package. It would be sweet to see a factory dealio like the raptor from Toyota. I am sure they feel the risk/reward payoff just doesn't make sense to them.

Though the idea of having to account for install, install fees, taxes, saving for profit etc. I understand and agree with. It's the fact that the market for a truck like this may seem large (offroad forums, magazines, clubs etc). The actual market for it is very slim. Mainly because the people that frequent said above sites and events, are well informed 4x4/offroad enthusiasts, and know that for the overhead on this vehicle they can (and in some cases have) built a much more trail worthy rig. I'm sure this car will find a buyer, most likely to an eclectic young adult or a parent buying a truck for their spoiled kid to thrash on. We may not be in business, but I don't think you would need a degree to see that the market for this item is excruciatingly small.

    cheers!

When I think about it - the one done at the dealer would be a Land Rover and get out the first week. Put some good skids and sliders. Put a decent size dent in the door and some good trail stripes to increase your comfort level of taking a 50-125k truck out on the trail.

    Looks like:

    OME lift in front $500
custom 5+pack leaf in the back $600
    wheels and tires $1500 ish
    Nfab steps $350
    Nfab light bar $350
Hella Rallye 1000 black magic light kit $250
    Tire carrier $300
    TRD exhaust $400
    Rear disk brake kit $300

Total is around $4550 plus labor add another $2000. I would say a good total for all the upgrades on that truck look like it could be an extra $6500. But that doesn't include dealer mark ups on the parts. So I don't think it's worth and extra $13K.

If u are really considering it, offer them like $36,000 for it and see if they take it! it looks like its got approx. 6,000 in upgrades, that being said i wouldn't give more than 38,000 for it!

Just a side note... $100 for a front alignment - If they do it they way they describe it in the Factory Service Manual - it could take a lot longer than a Pep Boys alignment - I did a Stealer Alignment (they did it as a "one time" warranty - I wheeled the piss out of it the first week or so). They charged Toyota something like 3.5 hours!
